Ok... lets have a little English lesson shall we? Todays lesson, proving a negative; and why it is a fallacy. Jimmy walks into class and says "I met the Queen at the weekend" Laura comes in and says "No he didnt" The only way for it to be settled, is if there is proof. The burden of proof falls onto Jimmy, Jimmy made the claim, Jimmy must provide evidence if challenged by laura. Laura does not have to provide any proof, because there is no proof of unprovable situation. The only proof laura could show, is proof of jimmy telling the truth. I hope this helps you understand why your comment was extremely immature, in the most literal sense of the word. this is basic english and basic grammar and is basic practice of law in every democratic country. TL;DR. This guy is making claims, and showing no evidence or proof of his claims, HE is the one who has to provide evidence of his claims, I am simply pointing out that 90% (and that was being kind) of the stuff he mentions, he shows no proof for it or evidence, and anyone who listens to him would be able to confirm that, yes, he does add mostly his own opinions. this isnt news. he does this. its what he does. You really need to come off of the internet, go for a walk, get some fresh air, and maybe try and find a girlfriend, because youre anger and hatred towards people online for daring to talk about the bible, or daring to say jesus couldnt fly, or daring to call out someone for making stuff up, is just beyond acceptable for modern culture. remember.... WHAT WOULD JESUS DO?! Not try and insult people and belittle them :D

@@AndrewBlucher I’m fascinated by artists from the ancient world (not limited to Greece and Rome, all other cultures included) that crafted masterpieces with a toolset that is far more limited than what we have today. How they managed to gain sufficient knowledge of materials and their properties to make their works of art that endure for millennia. If handled properly. If you give it to the French then it either disappears forever or it’s toast within days of course. 😂 In the 21st century we are now at the peak of the pyramid when it comes to being able to work materials, with all sorts of precisions plasma/laser/water/cnc cutting machines, lathes, diamond tipped cutting bits, perfectly angled spindels, highly researched paints, varnishes and what not. And therefore we build particle board houses that last 50 years! Because the ancients couldn’t! 🤦♂️

@@rickb3078 It seems that there are a few things you are not really aware of. Malleability. Gold and silver are very malleable, meaning they can be hammered into shape easily. Copper too. Lead is more malleable, but it doesn't have the allure. What can be achieved by developing and handing down knowledge through many generations. These people were just as smart as us, and like us some craftsmen were more gifted or inventive than others. Once a technique was discovered it tended to be incorporated into the knowledge handed down. They were limited by not having atomic theory and such, but had immense practical experience. On another note, what is this dig at the French? Have you heard of the Louvre?
@rickb30783 жыл бұрын
@@AndrewBlucher there are a great many things I’m not aware of for sure, the world is a place full of marvel and ingenuity. It’s not just metal working, but craftsmanship of all kinds. And supply chain. Stone metal wood mosaics fabrics, everything. The world was not as connected in the ancien world as it is now. Skills developed independently in different regions. Using different materials and tools. You were limited to what could be made locally. There were no KZbin tutorials. You couldn’t order a lie-Nielsen #7 on Amazon in 50 AD. You couldn’t order all required or missing materials with overnight shipping. It took a great deal of effort to get all the skills tools and materials in one place. That is something to be appreciated. What is a “Louvre”? Please enlighten me o exalted one! Now that you bring it up, I’d make the same dig about any colonial power displaying stolen treasure. British museum, the Met, Berlin and others. If it’s not blatantly stolen it’s bought at gun point for a pittance. Or the people in the colony were so impoverished they had to sell at bargain prices. It’s surprisingly hard to say no when a British/French/any foreign oppressing officer with a gun shows up and offers you 10p for an ancient necklace he wants for his love. He also has the power of the rigged courts to use against you. Dishonest acquisition is a crime whether it was done now or 500 years ago.

Yes - there is certainly a cup in the Gospel accounts of the Last Supper. I meant only that the Bible places no special emphasis on that cup - it's just a vessel on the table.

Yes, sometimes - in fact the faint "XPISTOS" inscribed on the agate cup from Vienna is sometimes thought to be the misread signature of an artist named Aristos.

Fascinating history, Being an old and fairly straight Christian, not of the Orthodox variety, any relic, either genuine or fraudulent means little to me. A personal relationship with the Creator is the single treasure I seek. Interrupted by being all too fallible human, of course.

The Holy Grail legend is partly inspired by Celtic Mythology. There exists the Four Treasures of the Tuatha Dé Danann. One of these is the Cauldron (coire) of the Dagda which was believed to enough food and drink for everyone en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Four_Treasures_of_the_Tuatha_D%C3%A9_Danann
@brianmccarthy55573 жыл бұрын
And what does the potbellied and often ferocious Dagda and his cooking cauldron for his gluttonous appetite have to do with the Grail legend other than the extremely vague notion than both were vessels to hold things? I've heard this idiotic speculation before but who, in their right mind, would repeat such trash? That somebody in Wikipedia repeats it only further degrades an already untrustworthy source of information. I guess it works on you non-Gaels who are totally unfamiliar with our ancient native gods that we abandoned 1500 years ago or more.

This is not exactly true. *The credible Jacqueline Simpson together with S. Roud, in The Oxford Dictionary of English Folklore (2000), addresses this topic: They maintain that "There are no old folk traditions about the Holy Grail, though it is prominent in French Arthurian literature from the late 12th century onwards where it is usually, but not invariably, linked to the Last Supper and Crucifixion, the Eucharist, and Joseph of Arimathea. In English Arthurian romances it lies hidden in a mysterious castle somewhere in Britain, guarded by descendants of Joseph or of one of his companions; Arthur's knights try to obtain it, but in vain.” Some scholars have argued that Celtic myths underlie the medieval texts. Simpson and Roud, unfortunately, do not take a position on whether they agree with "some scholars," almost certainly because this is a fanciful idea that can be neither proven nor disproven.*

I wasn't asked to narrate. My publisher sold the rights, and the audiobook company wanted to use one of their own readers.

The actual cup was likely to be one that was common and widely used at the time. Because Christ preached chastity, humbleness and poverty to serve man, he is not likely to have had an ornate chalice at the last supper. Additionally, none of the apostles at the time knew of the significance of the last supper when it happened, so its unlikely they gathered their sheckles to purchase an ornate cup. The entire idea of the holy grail is a figment of medieval culture in my opinion. The very idea that Christ would have such a luxury chalice is preposterous on its face.

Since the Last Supper was a Passover meal taken at the nearest convenient dining room for rent in some guy's house, that means "THE CUP" would just be an ordinary drinking vessel... in some random guy's house, so who would have thought to keep and/or collect it? Even by the time of the crucifixion, it would have been washed and put away with other cups, so smeone running back to collect it would have been out of luck. Kind of wrecks the idea.

King Arthur: Go and tell your master that we have been charged by God with a sacred quest. If he can provide us food and shelter for the night he can join us on the quest for the Holy Grail. French: Well, I'll ask him, but I don't think he'd be very keen. He's already got one you see? King Arthur: [puzzled] What? Sir Galahad: They said they already got one.

I subscribe to the Indiana Jones hypothesis...if the last supper happened and there was a shared drinking vessel, it was probably simple. (also, it was likely pretty large)
@sophdog16783 жыл бұрын
The quest of the Holy Grail was not to acquire the Grail, but simply to be allowed to view the Grail. Only the the most virtuous and pious of knights could be blessed with such an honour, and in the end, this honour was afforded to Sir Galahad, as he was said to have been conceived for just this holy purpose. Galahad was assisted and accompanied in the final stages of the quest by the knights Sir Percival and Bors the Younger.
