Really like that you focused on one material, coffee stirrers. Makes it easier to imagine the possibilities of the medium. I do similar things with Jenga blocks.

They’re such a good material for miniature hobbying in general I knew I had to make a video on them. Jenga blocks are great too I’ve used them for making some big chunky fortified walls before, thanks for sharing!

I really liked the coffins and the graveyard doors. Made some crates like these with a core of cardboard squares layered into cubes and rectangles, instead of coffee sticks I had some slices of old vaneer I cut into strips.

All great ideas!!! A few I already knew about but never got done that good though!!! 1 things I would love to learn how to make would be extra bits?!? Like the missiles you had in 1 of the crates!?! I know you get a few from certain box sets…… but I usually use those for those sets!!! But I would love to know how the best way to make more just like it!?!
@SwampRatMiniatures
@SwampRatMiniatures 19 күн бұрын
Thank you my man, glad you liked them, I’m 99% sure the missiles were from an older cadian heavy weapons kit, but I could see it being fairly easy to make some similar ones from styrene rods and similar little bits, so maybe a video idea for the future!

I'm curious where you got the skulls and skele-boys from? That gate is super rad and now for no reason at all I wanna make a grungy graveyard haha
@SwampRatMiniatures
@SwampRatMiniatures Жыл бұрын
They were actually just from some random skeleton miniatures I grabbed off eBay and chopped up, no idea on the brand but you’ll find tons of them on there. Thank you, the gate was by far my favourite, I’ve got a whole bunch of similar bits that I’ve been thinking of making into a graveyard too, thanks for watching and commenting!

7:17- I’m not sure how good this would work…… mainly because this video just gave me the idea!?! But I wonder if you 1st paint it the wood color! Then put a decent amount of Matt clear varnish over it! Then paint the green over all of that after everything is 100% dry! Then just like you just showed us, green, green wash, then sand it (obviously you would need to sand lighter! So you don’t go through all of the paint)! And if you did it right and that 1st coat of varnish did its job, then on all the pieces that the green paint is going would be the wood brown!?! To make it look way more realistic!??

I did some doors recently and had some spots that wouldn’t stain where the Pva glue touched the wood from the excess so I used typhus corrosion texture from gw to cover it and it gave the wood that rotted look worked well. Feather the edges with a wet brush and it was perfect

All I need now are wooden coffee stirrers. Going to be a tiny bit of a challenge though, since where I live there seems to only be plastic tube like ones (which admittedly make for nice industrial pipes/plumbing).

I get my stirrers from Co-op stores, best done in the evenings when students work their shifts. No need to sneak about, I usually just ask if I can have some. I never get asked how many I want. A big handful is never a problem.

Where do y9u get your skeleton bits from? I miss the old GW box set of skeletons that gave an amazing amount of parts for all kinds of projects and want something like that if possible.
@SwampRatMiniatures

I grabbed these off eBay, they were random skeleton archers of a nondescript brand that I chopped up for nefarious purposes, sorry I can’t be more specific ☹️

The Skeletons Warriors box from Warlords of Erewhon, by Warlord Games (formerly by Wargames Factory) is by far the best source of random skeleton bits we have, since most of the pieces are separate (or if you want to make skeletons in very specific positions for dioramas or whatever). And for skulls, as mindbending as it sounds, the best bang for your buck is *still* the Games Workshop Skulls box, nothing else from no one else comes close if you want a whole bunch and variety of them.
