Seems like all the pole barns I've ever seen have a truss at every post location and not much more...therefore an 8' spacing with 2x4 purlins connecting them.

here's a few ideas for constructing sheds Start With a Sound Foundation a shed wont last long if it's set on a weak base Allow for Air Circulation to stop damp Build a Weather-Resistant Floor Frame Use Low Maintenance Materials so you won't have to keep painting it (I learned these and the reasons they work from Adota blueprint pack website )

Excellent Video clip! Sorry for butting in, I am interested in your initial thoughts. Have you tried - Mahorrla Wooden Paradise Method (probably on Google)? It is a good one of a kind product for building better sheds and woodworking without the headache. Ive heard some awesome things about it and my mate at last got astronomical results with it.

Buy iron trusses, very respectful of the talent here but I don't have that much free time.
@alabastardmasterson6 жыл бұрын
BadUncleIke you can build the trusses in a day for around $500 without metal connector plates, which saves around a grand on buying premade wooden trusses and saves over 2k on so called "iron" trusses even if you were going 4' on center

I don't believe one person could build this thing entirely without help (except with those "custom" doors) in four weekends, as the video asserts. I've built many pole barns mostly by myself and I am CERTAIN that that assertion is in error (to put it nicely). For example, it takes a lot of time just to prepare the site and to locate the correct spots where the post holes will be dug. How were the post holes dug? By hand? Video doesn't say, but I don't see an auger on that tractor. Even with an augur, the locating, digging, and setting of 12 or so 6" x 6" x 12' or 16' posts would take one man at least an entire weekend, more likely 2 weekends to do a proper job (posts plumb and square to one another). It's very odd to see those posts standing there without any bracing, by the way. I don't see any string, either. It's fishy. Maybe Lowe's or Home Depot is actually behind this video.
@Joshua79C6 жыл бұрын
RR Buildings is doing a DIY series for those who want to build themselves, first step showing a one day process for position, post hole planning and leveling to equal grade.

Thanks for your response! I really like your video and home-built trusses. I worked for a friend in construction and built a few pole buildings and steel buildings, always wanted to build my own trusses for a tractor shed when I had a farm.
