A few years ago I was playing one single 10-cent straight superfecta per race, just 10 cents total per race. I won a $1000 super for 10 cents out of pocket and two days later hit a $770 super. Then I went cold for a few months but I had some close calls though. It's a fun way to play. Another time I boxed the 4 longshots and hit the super. Got paid $7860 for $2.40 out of pocket... the favorite got DQ'd is why I got paid. Another time I only had $2 in my account, so I made a sandwich, put the 3 on top, and the 5 for 4th and 5 horses boxed for 2nd and 3rd. Then, 30 seconds before the race I canceled and switched the bet, putting the 5 on top and the 3 for 4th. Needless to say, it came out the original way, and the super paid $11,000. Ugh. That still hurts to think about, haha.

That’s why I cannot cancel a bet. If I want to change the bet, i’ll make another one.

I agree with you, I love the 10 cent superfecta. The chance to win a lot with a little money. The odds are better than those idiots who play the lottery.

What happens to all the money in the Superfecta pool if NOBODY hits it.? Seems like this could happen in a large field if a Longshot mowed down a couple favorites at the wire.

That is a really good question that I need to do some research on. I have never thought about that because usual someone gets that bet right but as you say there could some instances where no one has the right combinations. To my knowledge the money in the pool doesn't roll over to the next race like it does in say Super High 5 bets or Pick 5s. Then again I don't think the track gets the money either. At least I hope they don't! It should go to the bettors who get it right eventually. Let me do some research. Great question!!!!!

You do .10 cent superfecta bets of 45 individual tickets for ONE race? Whats the cost? And you still lose? Im curious, please explain in more detail i.e., ticket/bet structure, cost, avg wins out of a full card, losses? Thank you!

I've found little reason to play the $0.10 super anymore. I've recently developed a program that analyzes average and median payouts across a range of criteria, such as class and size of field. I've found that the the biggest influence in payouts is class and the size of the field. I started this project with Saratoga and eventually translated it over to the Kentucky Derby and Breeders Cup race days. Believe it or not, over 98 percent of the time, the $0.10 superfecta pays the same as the $0.50 trifecta. Considering how much more difficult it can be to hit the super compared to the trifecta, I don't think the $0.10 super is worth it. Plus, when you consider the cost of a $0.50 tri vs a $0.10 super, it really doesn't cost that much more. Even when you play a key and wheel multiple horses, the cost is relatively the same. For that reason, I think the $0.50 trifecta is a much better play. There are some exceptions to play the super, which are the Kentucky Derby and the Breeders Cup Classic. Those specific races have shown to have astronomical payouts for SUPERS. Reason being is the pool size and the Derby has a minimum super bet of $1.00 so naturally it's going to payout larger, SO HELL YEAH GET INTO THE ACTION. And those races are punched with action so you never know what you're gonna get. But, a huge majority of the times on a normal day, I've found that the $0.50 TRI pays the same as the $0.10 SUPER and therefore I think TRI's is a better angle to take.

I like to play 2 favorites with a mid odds horse, and a long shot. I always look for a good jockey on the long shot. Give it a try
