I found this review very interesting! I actually thought this was quite exceptional and very fruity + floral on the palate. The oak is certainly there but in a soft sweet way. Wonder if there’s some variation amongst bottles! Great video 👍🏻

So interesting, had a completely different experience with this. Thought it was very fruity. Definitely didn’t get any heavy oak or smoky char notes. Cheers, and keep the whiskey flowing!

My sister texted from Iowa and said "I'm at the local Kum & Go and there are tables set out with a bunch of whiskey... should I go back?" I told her to send pics and grab a ticket. Showed her my top 5 in priority, she drew 4th and got my #2... a 4R SMBLE 2024😂 been hunting for one for 8 years, I'm so jazzed.

Roses LE but they can have punchy oak (2022) I like the sweeter profile like 2021 and 2019

Found it at a local store for MSRP and had it in my hand, but passed. Out of my price range. After I put it back, even the Manager told me it was the right move. He said it wasn’t worth it for the price

So glad I am not an oak/age hound lol. I don't mind Oak being featured in a whiskey, but I don'tlike when oak is the dominant flavor. People paying hundreds of dollars to lick a tree is kind of amusing to me. To each their own though! Cheers!

Nice review! I enjoyed this more than my wife Deb. The back overpowered the front/mid. I really wanted those fruit notes to linger and not the oak and spice. If it was more viscous, maybe those flavors would have lingered. Despite enjoying it, I am in the minority and feel it's a pass at that price. With that said, I need to get back into it.

Damn Sara! I was thinking the same thing. I needed the balance between the fruit notes in the front and the oak/spice in the back! Now I feel my review is validated and I don't feel so bad because everyone was saying how awesome it was!!

With most barrel select bottles hovering around that 9-10 year mark and this LE amping up those minimum ages, it's certainly designed to drink older and oakier. Not that that is always a good thing 😉

I never see Four Roses LE, this is one I don't have to feel bad about. Question: Why doesn't Four Roses put the blend on the label of their standard 100 proof single barrel offering? They put in on the cask strength single barrel bottles.

@@drgallup Good question! Not sure, but might be because the regular single barrel is more aimed towards the general public and Four Roses thinks including the recipe might be over the public’s heads while the barrel proof single barrels are more aimed at your whiskey nerds. But who knows! 🤷🏻‍♂️

Hmm… Interesting, because “oakey” is maybe the last thing that comes to mind with the regular Four Roses single barrel and barrel select offerings.

Don’t be afraid just say it it’s not worth the secondary or frankly, the retail price this year I have single barrel pics that will blow the LE out the water

@@Bourbonandbrews I hear ya but we’re just getting ahead of the comments. A lot of times if you don’t point out that some people won’t find it for retail, you get those obligatory comments about how they found it for 2x or 3x the price and no way it’s worth that. And since secondary can vary so much, we generally don’t touch it, and point out our reviews are made with retail in mind.
