The Four Roses 2024 Limited Edition Small Batch is releasing in just a few weeks, and Zach from ‪@bourbonkingdom‬ is in the studio today for some casual first impressions tasting and chatter.
Non-chill filtered and bottled at a 108.2 proof, the 2024 Limited Edition Small Batch features a 12-year-old Bourbon from the OBSV recipe, a 15-year-old OESK, a 16-year-old OESF, and a 20-year-old OBSV. Interesting to hear y’all dissing the ‘21. I love it and not just in blinds. That tracks because OBSQ is my favorite recipe and I don’t really follow the components of the blends. What’s interesting is that I love the 135th, but tasting it next to the ‘21, it tastes old, but also a bit tired. The ‘21 is livelier on the palate. I love oak, too. I also prefer RR13 b3 to b1, so it takes all types, I guess.

@@abandonbourbon, I mean, if I can help it, I’m going to buy it no matter what. I was really lucky with the 135th last year and ended up with several. The 4🌹 LE’s are strangely hard to find in Texas. The ‘21 is one of the few big bottles of modern bourbon I buy on secondary. The price is just too good. I don’t hate the 135th, either. It’s great. But to me, the ‘21 is its equal, it just excels in different ways. I can’t wait to get my hands on the ‘24. Thx!

I have never owned a 4RLE but I had a pour of the 135th and it was so good. Also loved the 2019 as well. Will hunt this for sure at msrp but doubt I’ll find it. Love when you review 4R. Cheers

Guys - help me understand how the process at the 4R Distillery and Bottling Facility works for distribution of the 2024 LE? Is it insane or is it possible to line up and actually get a bottle? Considering coming in from out of town.....

Not sure yet of quantities so not a lot to say yet. They will give out tickets, but depending on how far you have to come it may not be worth it considering time and gas.

@@abandonbourbon I was fortunate enough to curate barrel strength single barrels of all 10 recipes & host a tasting. Came to the conclusion that the OBSO, OESO & OESQ had the cherry, oak & rickhouse flavors we enjoyed. I always hear about how some of the "runs" are more popular, just curious if it's all word of mouth, or if there are any blogs/forums where I should keep an eye out.

The 2022 LE is very very close recipe. Probably would have been a better comparison than the130th LE. I have had the 2024 LE sample. 135th is better.
