Nothing was even happening before 18 minutes. I'd argue not a lot going on even at 18 but it makes sense to sit for a drawn out ambient intro track.

up close that light fixture by Squidsoup reminds me of Yayoi Kusama’s Infinity Room. far away it’s like a distant celestial body. either way, the perfect accompaniment to Four Tet’s sonic pointillism

If you stare at the artwork for morning/evening side long enough, you start to notice it can be viewed upside down with a reversed perspective. I feel like this is one of the reasons why Four tet started with evening and ended with morning, to flip things around. He could have been trying to represent the human dreams with it's chaortic algorithms, or the flipped sleep schedule of ravers, experiencing art whilst the average mind rests asleep.
