Yes, I agree that it’s brilliant to splice the videos together of the subsequent visits (after the initial treatment) of the same lesion throughout the entire healing process, however, I’d also suggest to Nate that he could also upload the previous videos as they’re filmed (as opposed to withholding & waiting for subsequent treatments)…so after the 2nd visit with the same cow, produce a longer video with the 1st two visits spliced together, & similarly for all visits until the treatment process has finished. It’ll result in more videos along the way & won’t require “holding back” on any videos throughout the entire healing process.

Cows give so much to us humans. I find it very comforting to know that they also receive good care. Being born in a farming family but due to circumstances had to leave it behind. I helped feed cows, cleaned their stall, helped milk them, and had a good relationship with them as a kid. Cows may be catlle but they do deserve our respect, as do all animals. :)

Love that you did this style video. You could do a before and after video of these types of trims but I also think you could do a less in depth version of the same cow in a regular style video. It’s nice to watch a regular trimming video and then a video on a specific problematic cow and you could even reference the other videos that would feature said cow.

At the 6 week trim, can you explain what was going on with that dark patch starting on the toe, and looked like it led to a crack on the inside? A related question, you had mentioned in the past that you don't take a hoof down to the white in all areas just to make it look pretty on camera, which makes perfect sense. but if you don't clear the slurry off, how do you know if there's a problem underneath?
@NatetheHoofGuy3 жыл бұрын
That crack is where I removed some loose horn. There are symptoms present that lead you to problems. To an experienced eye they are obvious without making them perfectly white.

Nate I know this is kind of a goofy question but do you think that they remember you as the guy that helped them to feel better? I know that they look at you and thank you at the end I know some people have said that and I think they really do, but I was wondering when you have multiple visits like this if they actually make some sort of recognition and go into the crush a little bit more willingly since they know that you've helped them feel better. It's a Wonderful way of showing us the process of how this healing works it's just fantastic what a great video thank you again!!

This was very interesting, with a good focus on the lesion and the treatment. I do have to chuckle at how you use chlorhexadine as an irrigant as well as an antiseptic, when water would irrigate just as well. But, as you have told me, for $25 a gallon, there's no pain in using it for both. Good video; I enjoy these and your relaxing ones as well.

I did enjoy seeing the healing progression. It also helps when you give comparisons to something we “non cow” people can relate to like the sunburn. Cows must have a high pain tolerance because that lesion looked awfully painful to me. Thank you for working with these animals in such a caring manner. It must get a bit tedious seeing much the same symptoms and injuries over and over, yet you treat each “patient” as an individual animal who deserves caring and humane attention.
