I am having a hard time getting to selflessness and service. I have a lot of illnesses and receive so much care. I want to learn more about Jesus and The Holy Spirit. I have a new study guide Bible and am ready to dive into the gospels again with a lot more intensity. I want to seek the Spirit. I live in an Assisted Living Center. It's very good and a lot of Christians on staff but a lot of dark people, as well. I'm want to be more close to the Lord in prayer and begin to do spiritual warfare as I grow.

Hi Karen, thanks for leaving a commnet. It sounds like you're on an inspiring journey, seeking to grow closer to Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Your desire to dive deeper into the gospels and to embrace a life of selflessness and service, even in the midst of personal challenges, is truly commendable. Here's a few reminders of things that could help: Prayer: Make prayer a daily habit. Speak to God honestly about your struggles and desires. Ask for His guidance and strength. Philippians 4:6-7 says, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God." Reading the Gospels: Since you have a new study guide Bible, focus on the life of Jesus in the gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John). Notice how Jesus served others, even when He was tired or facing hardships. Reflect on His teachings and miracles, and how He showed love to everyone. Seeking the Holy Spirit: Pray for the Holy Spirit to fill you and guide you. The Holy Spirit is our helper and comforter. John 14:26 says, "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you." Service in Your Community: Even in an Assisted Living Center, there are opportunities to serve. A smile, a kind word, or a prayer can be powerful acts of service. Look for small ways to show Christ’s love to those around you. Spiritual Warfare: Ephesians 6:10-18 talks about the armor of God. Read this passage and pray through each piece of armor, asking God to equip you for spiritual battles. Connect with Fellow Christians: If there are Christian staff members or residents, consider joining or forming a small prayer group or Bible study. Fellowship with other believers can be incredibly strengthening. Remember, growing closer to the Lord is a journey, and each step you take, no matter how small, brings you closer to Him. If you ever feel overwhelmed or need extra support, consider calling the 100 Huntley prayer line at 1-866-273-4444. They can offer prayer and encouragement. Keep pressing on, and may God bless your journey with His peace and strength.

Love Jesus, believe the Bible 100%, dislike all churches I've been to.

None of the above... Every church I have been to is led by a Calvinist wolf.

I'm sorry to hear that you've had negative experiencess with churches in the past. Finding a church that aligns with your beliefs and where you feel spiritually fed is important. May I suggest a few things? Ask God to lead you to a church where you can grow in your faith and feel a sense of community. James 1:5 says, "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you." If possible, talk to other Christians about their church experiences. Personal recommendations can sometimes lead you to a great community. Remember, the goal is to find a place where you can grow closer to Jesus, be encouraged in your faith, and serve others. Keep seeking, and trust that God will guide you to the right community. God bless you on your journey.
