If I wasn't already subscribed to your channel, your use of the term "eleventy" would have made me subscribe out of principle. Thanks and keep of the good work!

Well, eleventy-five thousand is a large all be it an obscure number, but the world doesn't have a video from Bob's Shaker table. The world needs a video from Bob on Shaker tables.

I'd love to see the table build video... I've been planning to build a sewing table for my wife too sometime soon. There might be eleventy-million videos out there, but I want to see yours! Love your work Bob, keep it up.

Nice video, Bob. Thanks! Lot of shaker table builds out there. But many skip the dovetail joint for the upper rail and twin tenon for the lower rail - particularly with hand tools. Then, too, I bet you will bevel the underside of the top with hand planes. I’d watch those three.

Thanks Frank! Actually not beveling this one. It’s not really a Shaker table at all. Just shaker inspired. Tapered legs are reminiscent of Shaker and a drawer on either side of the table, sort of like a Shaker sewing table. But this one is almost dining table sized to have room for a ‘lectric sewing machine and lots of room to lay out fabric. It’s probably more like a writing desk than a Shaker table.

I’ll probably post it on the blog. Or I’ll send you some pics. It’s already well beyond filming for KZbin.

There are probably eleventy-five thousand shaker table builds, but only a handful are hand tool centric

Thanks! The bugs are long gone. They don’t want the dead wood. They burrow into the live stuff. This is reclaimed American chestnut from an old Appalachian barn. The American chestnut was more or less completely wiped out by 1940 due to the chestnut blight. This lumber was likely harvested in the 1930s to 1940s where it was milled and made into a barn. It was reclaimed when the old barn was taken down some time around 2010. Since then it has been sitting up in a barn loft baking in the summer heat and freezing in the winter. So I’m pretty confident that the lumber is just fine. There are no active borers in it anymore. You can usually tell if there are as you will see piles of sawdust in and under the boards. These boards have none of that. So I’m sure that they’re fine.

@@BobRozaieskiFineWoodworking If you have active powder post beetles or other wood boring bugs, a pesticide containing Cyfluthrin is effective. One brand is Cy-Kick CS, but there are others. Pretty safe to use around people. I order mine online as a concentrate to mix with water, and it is sent through the mail. You can apply with a pump up sprayer. The concentrate is more cost effective than the pre-mixed versions. It would be a good idea to fill any holes before applying a finish, to prevent any future re-infestation. I enjoy your videos!

There’s nothing active. The worm holes are from the original chestnut blight.
