Don’t forget to consult an electrician before enclosing shower or power cables in insulation, or crushing lighting cables which are routed over joists. Cables generally can only run 50% of their rated value if enclosed in insulation for more than 1/2 metre, not a problem for lights (which are over specced) but can cause overheating for other cables.

truly, also please keep in mind that expanding foam insulation is extremely strong and almost impossible to remove from wires without damaging them.

Over draught proofing will cause damp and mould because it reduces air circulation. Be careful and thoughtful when doing this.
@spiritusinfinitus Жыл бұрын
Exactly. Many firms cashing in on government subsidies simply over-insulate with zero regard to maintaing proper airflow throughout the property and 3 or 4 years later the owner has to strip it all out along with all the dangerous mold and re-do the lot properly. Shoving a plastic balloon up your chimney as shown in this video is a great way of guaranteeing mold unless you figure out how to remove humidity from the home!

So this is what Insulate Britain is protesting about, shame council homes are the thing of the past, the government could help councils fund these insulations to help with raising energy prices in a more permanent way.

That would cost the same but be distributed differently.

They already have done. It’s not difficult or expensive to do.

Where you getting insulation at £5 per sq metre?
@Moto-4112 жыл бұрын
so i go do all that and wont see any results for 2 to 4 years as it costs a fair bit to insolate aloft around £400+
@clarkeysam2 жыл бұрын
£5/m² for insulation. Average loft is under 50m². So costs less than £250 on average. You must live in a mansion for it to be £400+!!

@@clarkeysam Sorry I only just saw this! I agree with Chris Hurstone, I'd top it up, and B&Q does it pretty well - we went to Wickes because it was closer and we got a discount through work. It's pretty easy to do, I had some weird angles in my loft which complicated things but it's not been impossible

People slate them despite protesting for the poorest in society and the 8000 people that die in cold homes in the UK each year! We should all promote Insulate Britain!

@@BritishAnts people slate them because they attack and target innocent people that have zero power what so ever to make a difference. what good is it for a bunch of jobless people gluing them selves to roads. shouting slurs at drivers just trying to get to work to put food on the table. refusing to allow emergency services past. etc As for 8k deaths per a year, not even close far too high. and adding to that, you do know that in a country that has a population of 60 to 70 MILLION people. there are over 1000 deaths per a day, every single day on any day of the year. about 10,000 deaths per a week. Do you shed a tear at all for those? do you glue your self to roads for them too? no, so please. stop justifying bully tactics over a false claim of 8k per a year. And finally. When insulate Britain reps are asked, if they even live by what they preach. such as insulating their own homes. almost none of them have. they are all talk. that is why people slate them. they are a bunch of entitled individuals that have never done a hard days work in their lives, that just want something for nothing.
