Here's a hint I found tonight... take the other two ABS cable clips off, flip the steering knuckle around and push the seal in, so much easier! I can't put a pic here though. Great vid, thanks!

putting back seal in two blocks of wood with treated rod through the centre pulls them in nice and easy

Hey Anthony, great video, I have a 120 with 358k on the clock, I doubt very much the bearings have ever been replaced as I got it at 180k and haven't replaced them since I've had it. I notice the car has a vibration through the steering wheel at speed, that couldn't be the wheels out of balance as I've just gotten new wheels and tyres, balanced. Is this likely to be the bearings?

Another great video mate, is that normal tyre flex rubbing on the casting upper area of the hub mount I noticed, a mate of mine had this when I told him about it he reckoned tyre shop said going up in whatever size it was would be ok, as I said off course they want to sell ya a full set of treads

@52:48 yes you are correct it is 100Nm. But I doubt you can put a torque wrench in between the hub assembly and knuckle.

I have a landcruiser prado vzj95 4x4 petrol. 3.4lt. I am having whooshing sound at high speed. Starts at around 80kph and almost goes away at 105kph. Slight vibration as well. Another thing is the fro t drive shafts if I jack the car so load is on suspension the front t drive shaft between cv joints start to bounce up and down at that 80kph point. I would assume they should rotate and be stable and not bounce up and down. Looking forward to your reply. Changed all rubbers underneath vehicle front to back, even between body and chassis. Front and rear diffs are clean, bearings are fine tyres aligned and balanced. Shocks are good heavy duty. I'm at my wits end.

i tried yesterday for about 4 hours to get that assembly off, no chance.... and you simply pull it off without any problem.... any idea whats going on there? i looks like to me that the shaft is somehow baked to the bearing...

Is the Hub nut 35mm ? Assume the torque is 170foot.lbs?

Did you find out the size of the hub nut? My biggest socket wrench available is 24mm only.

@@marjosephferrer2648 yeah, my 08 prado is 35mm. Local tool store (total tools) had a air gun socket for $22AUD. Hope that helps.

@@Fourby4Diesel Hi Anth. Got a delay in the parts arriving [Aust Post Issue], so i jacked the front up to get my head around the job while I wait. There's a grinding type of noise and a small vibration through the wheel [assumed it was the bearings], but i'm not getting a loose wobble in the wheels when i shake them top and bottom. If the hub swap isnt enough, what do you think could be the next to look at? Street/AT tyres on it, not muddies.

Great video and thanks a lot because it's all that's needed for a DIY job. Although it took five hours here it's pretty satisfactory since the local mechanic cracked the oil seal with axle installation and pieces of the retaining spring confused the abs sensor. Crackhead said since you know that much, do it yourself. And we did, thanks to this video. Cheers :)
