Musicians and home producers undoubtedly the hardest hit by the strains on mental health that these lockdowns have brought . Me too. I hope you are doing okay. I’m from Melbourne and gigs are just starting again after a year and a half. Lots of performance groups have quit, lots of venues have closed. Lots of network have moved away from the city to pursue a different kind of life . And we have lost people by their own hand , some who seemed to be the strong ones. Eat well, sleep well , avoid over indulging and continue to express yourself. These are the key ways to keep yourself in the game. Great jam. I really want a Volca drum because of you.

Is this without any post-processing done outside of the Volca? Sounds amazing
@CaseWoo2 жыл бұрын
Hi, I recorded my performance into a Zoom H5, transferred the WAV file to Studio One, normalized it and EQ slightly to bring down the low-mids. No other effects because I wanted everyone to hear the onboard effect on its own.
@paweldun4 жыл бұрын
this is the best volca
@CaseWoo3 жыл бұрын
I agree.
@Decoy3033 жыл бұрын
It's the best all around. I personally think the best Volca for what it does is the kick. Why? Nothing like synthesizing your own kick sound and then recording it chromatically. I really love the FM and Nubass as well but for the wrong reasons. They both make amazing sounds and with some coupled FX become quite professional; but for me it's for the shift function on the Nubass and the metronome on the FM. Both of these functions, along with at least 2 to 4 bars being the standard versus just a 1 bar loop. Don't get me wrong... I can be very creative with a 1bar loop but no one should have to every time. Lol! Regardless Volca's are Heaven Sent and are not toys. Some better midi thru functionality is a must but not a deal breaker.
@stephenkyburz65293 жыл бұрын
Man I just ordered mine last night (I got it mostly to pair it with a Moog DFAM). You're jam is lit ! One question though, is that the pure sound or is it processed ? These basses are so smooth !
@stephenkyburz65293 жыл бұрын
Well, it didn't turn out quite as I expected with the DFAM....But good news is that this little beast has one channel per instrument and that the midi CC are insane ! Would highly recommend it paired with a Digitakt.

@@stephenkyburz6529 What was the problem with the DFAM out of curiosity. I have a DFAM and I'm looking at the Volca Drum..
@stephenkyburz65292 жыл бұрын
@@PaulMadddox You can sync them, no problem with that, it's just a personal. You just have to dive in the sub menu of your volca and set the Sync in/out either to once a step or twice per step. I'm sure I'll find a good way to combine them one day.

Are there any functions on the volca drum that you allow to "double time" your hi hats specifically? While everything else remains at it's current tempo

HOW COOL!! are you running it with batteries? how long do they last? thnks!!
@mysynthsandstuff65194 жыл бұрын
Surprisingly long. I play with batteries on mine all the time now. It eliminates any unwanted noise from cheap power supplies. I put some new batteries in mine a few weeks ago and definitely had a few full days playing with them. Definitely get what you pay for. Good batteries good life. Cheap batteries it hardly powers on.

How do you save your sequences how many songs can be saved and what happens when you run out of space can you save songs to usb or sd card for recalling later or does everything just disappear

I only program a few basic sequences with 1 kick drum and 1 hi hat sound and I leave the rest to randomization whenever i begin each session. I try not to fix anything down and leave it to fate.

So, is techno all that can be created on volca drum?
@justus84203 жыл бұрын
Hey, really nice set! How did you achieved those deep bass line? I want to buy one volca for techno (like you). Ist the Drum the best option? Because in no other video i could hear this deep bases :)
@claudiongleur4 жыл бұрын
Very impressive! Have you tried the model : cycles? Torn between the two...
@Tony2dH4 жыл бұрын
I tried it for a while (but not this Volca) and while I loved the sequencer and the ease of use, I returned it because I found the range of sounds I got out of it a bit lacking for my taste especially for grittier darker techno. Maybe I could have gotten more out of it with more practice, but the Volca Drum looks like it has a slightly wider range soundwise for drums with a usable sequencer for less than half the price. The downsides I can see from the Volca is fewer connectivity options (you can easily sequence other gear from the Model:Cycles, though that uses up tracks) and probably more fidgety editing on the Volca. Especially for melodies, the Model:cycles will be a lot easier to program. So it depends on your goals and existing setup. Since I have synths for melodies and a sequencer already, I went for a dedicated drum machine instead, but if you need more of a groovebox for both drums and melodies then the M:C works well. But if you just want to play around with some cool minimal percussive sounds then the Volca Drums looks perfect for that.

@kevinnel70384 жыл бұрын
it has a bit reduction effect so it might be
@Gin-toki4 жыл бұрын
@@kevinnel7038 Ok, did not know it has effects built in. But the part at the beginning sounds more like aliasing or digital noise bleed through from the digital circuitry into the analog output. Rather common on cheaper equipment if its not designed properly. The Volca Beats has similar issues.
