Whenever I see Dr Amir, I know that concern is evident and transformation is on the way. It is wonderful that Charley was given the opportunity to begin living a life worthy of a pachyderm. I cry whenever an elephant is rehabilitated. This is a heartening video. Great to see the level of trust between elephant and human and so exciting to watch his journey. Solitary confinement is a dreadful punishment for any animal, especially as they have not done anything to deserve such an awful life of solitude without any companionship of his own species. Dr. Khalil is a treasure. He has been instrumental in the rescue of other elephants and is gifted at building trust with them. The whole Four Paws team is amazing and the organization does such wonderful work helping animals who should never been taken from the wild and put an end to their years of suffering in captivity. They are gifted with the best possible life for however many years of it remain: dignity, good care, enrichment, often a chance to be with their own kind. It is wonderful that they share the training for transport: the gradual exposure process and their expert use of techniques to habituate the elephant to the travel crate-its appearance, feel, smell, sounds-to make the transport the least stressful as possible. Tears of joy as Charlie arrives at Shambala and becomes Duma to begin his rehabilitation and start to heal from the years of exploitation, deprivation and abuse. Thank you FOUR PAWS ❤❤❤

Changing his name may actually have been confusing , as he WD have been accostomed to the name "Charley...Maybe it wd have been good to call him "Charley Duma" for a while? Duma is indeed a wonderful and more appropriate name..i wonder what other elephant conservationists would say? What an AMAZING achievement. I recommend KZbin's videos of "Paul Barton's work with elephants in Thailand. Fascinating and inspiring!!!
