Awesome! You help people like me manage realistic expectation. This requires a lot of practice. Nice that you have a full place at home to practice and have fun

Thanks dude 🙏 It definitely does require practice, but real IRL practice. There is definitely a point of diminishing returns in the sim. No matter how close the physics are in a sim, they won't be the same as real life. Sims definitely have their place for building the foundations, but I should have gotten out flying IRL sooner and I think that would have benefitted me much more. I also definitely see a lot of potential in my garden for fun lines, can't wait to get more comfortable to be able to explore them!

Haha, this is a really cool video!! I have the same experiences at the moment. I had around 30 hours simulator training and then wanted to know how far I have come and started flying my Cetus X in the field two weeks ago. My results so far: frame broken (after crashing into a crane and falling down about 20 meters), cam module destroyed (after full-speed head-on collision with a steel beam) and one prop fallen off :D I count this as "apprenticeship fee", ordered enough spare parts and I am always back in the air quick. The Cetus X is an incredible piece of fun, but the sheer power makes it a bit difficult to control...

Thanks for watching and sharing your experience 🙏 There definitely is a learning fee, check out my latest video 😏 You're less likely to make the same mistakes if it actually costs money ... maybe haha! Speaking of the "too powerful", got a great tip from @RCwithAdam 's Cetus X video. In Betaflight (not sure if you can do it with the other version), change the throttle mid to 0.30 and add 0.30 of expo. It makes it much easier to control 👍 I'll probably end up removing it at some point though, when I get better stick control.

@@TheWaddler so far I just capped the max throttle at 70%, as I thought this would be a good idea. But I will try like you wrote.
@TheWaddler3 ай бұрын
@@SaarKing71 See what you think 👍 This method works different than a throttle cap or motor limit. The expo definitely makes it softer, but the key part is the throttle mid. Having done some research, Oscar Ling has a good explanation: oscarliang.com/rates/#Throttle-Mid-and-Throttle-Expo But basically, setting throttle mid only works by also setting expo. It puts the expo on the throttle mid value giving you more throttle resolution at that point, so in this case 30%. The idea is to set the throttle mid at your cruising speed so that you have more resolution for the fine movements on the throttle at that point. This way you still keep 100% of the motor max in case you need it, to get out of dives or power loops for example (though I'm not there yet).

Yoo, i see your vids, about the 130hr in simulator, you are a good fpv pilot and the difference between the sim and the real life is crazy, in 1 month i will get my first fpv kit: Meteor 75 Pro, Pocket, Eachine 800DM; Good Fly =)

Thank you so much 🙏 Nice choices there, looking forward to seeing some of your first flights with the new kit when it arrives 👍

im not too far down the learning curve bro i got my cetus (vanilla) last wednesday and im trippin balls becoz i did a flip saturday. i truely hope i can fly great in super tigh spaces by the winter cuz i got a 3 room appartment and two cats i dont wanna hurt

Eyy nice! Yeah I bought an Air65 because the CetusX is too powerful to fly indoors, flew it for the first time today. You should be fine with the OG Cetus indoors, with some practice. Quick question, have you spent any time in the sim before flying for real? Not to judge, just curious, and did you think it helped? I'd say your cats are going to love chasing it more than you risk hurting them! 😅

Pwrsonaly i couldnt fly in 4sqm
@TheWaddler2 ай бұрын
It's more like 20mx12m, so 240sqm, but I get your point. I'm more about close proximity freestyle flying (though I'm yet to try proper freestyle tricks IRL), rather than long-distance cruisy flights, but each to their own. My plan when I build a proper open prop quad, so not a whoop which is all I have currently, it will only be a 3-inch, so the speed and flight space won't be massive like a 5 inch. I want to stay sub 250g because of the drone laws here in the UK.

Difference between sim and real life for me is 0
@TheWaddler2 ай бұрын
The difference between the sims and IRL isn't as big as I thought, after experiencing it. The only thing that no sim has, that is the biggest factor in portraying realistic flight, is air simulation. The drone behaves differently and unexpectedly when doing close proximity flying and no simulation can replicate that yet. Aside from the floaty physics some simulations have, the physics are mostly there in terms of the realism of gravity and thrust, but I only have the 2 inch Cetus and now a Air65 (indoors) to relate the physics to. So the difference to me isn't drastic, but it's there.

Quite shocked. 130hrs? U should be ripping. Sim must be shit

I said in the description, I was playing the sim with a PS4 controller. It's totally different to a proper radio. If you check out some of my latest uploads you can see that I'm getting used to the radio now.
@kutabareseniorita60362 ай бұрын
@TheWaddler oops I didn't see that part. Of course that doesn't count then. With that said your doing very well! Sorry for the fup
@TheWaddler2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the honesty, it's all good 🙏 I definitely hit a point of diminishing returns in the sim with a PS4 controller and I would have benefitted from getting a proper radio much sooner, but I still enjoyed it, plus it's help with some muscle memory. I only carried on because I hadn't gotten a real drone yet, I didn't set 130 hours as a target.

And I put that as the title for clicks, I knew I was going to get people call it out and not read the description, this ain't my first KZbin rodeo 😉
