Wtf is Fox acting like the blackout rules are still in effect and that the Bucs game is going to be blacked out in Tampa

Cowboys-Browns is a matchup of teams that lost the Wildcard Round by a combined score of 93-46.

That was super painful to watch as a Browns fan and I get that this matchup probably shouldn't have been Bradys debut but understand that the Browns entire roster was basically on IR. We were trotting out Geron Christian and James Hudson as our tackles.

That decision to have Commanders-Buccaneers at 4:25 may have been out of FOX's hands. Tampa often plays games at 4:25 early in the season so the game is when the sun is less intense and I suspect local authorities demanded that game be 4:25 to protect law enforcement as much as possible from the intensity of the sun and the humidity that a 1:00 PM game brings. Actually, given Week 1 this season the NFL is allowed to have Friday and Saturday games, it surprises me the NFL didn't give NFL Network two games that Saturday at likely 4:30 and 8:15 PM ET.

The JAX-MIA game is 1:00 in Miami. I would have thought that they would have required the Bucs to play the 1:00 in that scenario, allowing the Miami game to be moved to 4:05, but Oh Well.

@@Thunder103093 Normally that IS the case, however, this season and next the ban does not start until Week 2 as the ban starts the SECOND Friday and Saturday in September. That is the quirk that is allowing the NFL to have the Eagles game in Brazil on a Friday night in Week 1.

2024: Tom Brady tells millions of football fans across the U.S. how great the Cowboys are. 2025: This will be a tough year for Tom Brady, because Fox might tell him that this year, he will have to do the exact same thing, but without laughing out loud.

I read somewhere that Miami prefers to play late windows early in the season so that part of the game takes place after sunset and is cooler outdoors. Maybe thats why it was at 4pm
@runrafarunthebestintheworld5 ай бұрын
But like he said the NFL could've not have a Bucs home Game on the same time they could've had a Commanders home Game instead at a much earlier time.
@nyandmu5 ай бұрын
@@runrafarunthebestintheworld could've but eh i think of all the sins of this schedule that have been brought up this isn't the worst. Bucs fans will be able to see plenty of broadcasts from Brady this year as he is the FOX top analyst.
@Donald_the_Potholer5 ай бұрын
Except this one's not. The Week 1 matchup between the 2 Florida teams is in the 1:00 Window, likely because it allows fans in all 3 Florida Football cities to watch all 3 Florida teams, with the Bucs playing in the late window. You could argue that they should have reversed that, but meh.

You have your hands full the next couple days. I'm all for it. Theres a lot of chaos with the schedule. This has to be one of the dumbest schedules because almost every team gets screwed in some way.
@marcus8135 ай бұрын
The NFL would've been better off putting Vikings/Giants in FOX's late window. As a Buccaneers fan, I was excited when I heard the Cowboys/Browns announcement from FOX's upfronts, but when I saw the Bucs' schedule and noticed the conflict, I thought "What? So much for seeing how Brady does." Strange scheduling. BTW, it won't be just Bucs fans here in the Tampa Bay DMA who will miss Brady's FOX debut as an analyst. The Bucs have fans in at least most of Florida (Greater Orlando and SW Florida have plenty of Bucs fans, too) and most FOX stations that cover this state with a signal will air Commanders/Bucs (I doubt that Mobile, Ala.'s FOX 10, which also serves Pensacola, will air it). As for the Jaguars/Dolphins game going early in Miami Gardens, Fla. even with the canopy, that's gonna be brutal for everyone there.
@Jengaship5 ай бұрын
There’s tradeoffs involved with the schedule. If you move the bucs game, it also shrinks the audience for it and probably the rating as well. The cowboys game that Tom is going to be calling is going to pop a huge number no matter what. While it’s a bummer for bucs fans who want to tune in, I get the economics of it, mainly because the commanders have a huge fan base well outside the DMV.

Having 3 singleheader late games is rare, though. I think a swap with one of CBS' late games would've made more sense.
@Donald_the_Potholer5 ай бұрын
That's self-defeating unless it's also moved to the early window. If Commanders-Bucs is at 4:05, then FOX would not be allowed to air the Cowboys-Browns game in Tampa due to the Home Exclusivity Rule which is still in effect.
@marcus8135 ай бұрын
@@Donald_the_Potholer Lifelong Tampa Bay resident here. NFL rules dictate that up to 4 games can air opposite the local team's singleheader home game as of 2024, so Cowboys/Browns would be eligible to air on FOX 13 in that scenario.

A lot of faux outrage. Fans in Tampa will easily be able to see Tom Brady announce the game. NFL Sunday Ticket is readily available. Honestly, I think only a small percentage of people rely on over the air to watch games. I haven't watched an over the air game since the 1980s. Nowadays cable is dead and most people stream. You Tube TV has replaced traditional cable. Now, with You Tube owning Sunday Ticket, just pay your $280 for the season. You don't have to get the Red Zone or all the bells and whistles. Everyone says it is so expensive. It really isn't. Save the outrage for having to fork over $$ to ever God-Damned streaming service. That is where the outrage should be focused. Congress MUST revisit the NFL's anti-trust status and force them to provide access at reasonable prices instead of Amazon, Peacock (which utterly sucks shit), and now Netflix who will probably fail miserably.
