I like the idea of this rule. I would personally move the cutoff from start of training camp to first regular season game and also include any player who suffers a non-football related career ending injury (ie paralyzed in a car crash)

Different sport but New York Rangers 2007 1st round draft pick Alexei Cherepanov passed away in 2008 from a heart attack while playing in Russia before ever signing a contract with the Rangers. The Rangers got a 2nd round compensatory pick in the 2009 draft because of his passing.

Eh. It's sad and it really sucks for the team. But should the league add exceptions for rookies that get to training camp, blow out their knee, and never get to play a down? Sometimes bad luck hits. The best organizations are the ones that can rise above that. Not saying I'd be upset if there was compensation the next year for extreme circumstances, but I'm not also not sure it's needed. Still though. RIP Khyree Jackson. Sucks to see a young life ended just as he was about to get his big break.

Chris Canty Has Lied About The Cleveland Browns Left Cleveland Because They Had No Fans No Cleveland Lost The Browns Because Art Modal Moved The Browns From Cleveland To Baltimore Because Art Modal Couldn't Get A New Stadium For The Browns & Art Modal Also Said He Moved The Browns From Cleveland To Baltimore Was Also To Win A Superbowl.

I would rank, in no particular order the Steelers, Packers and Browns as the three best fanbases in the league. What the Dawg Pound lacks in on-field success (hopefully their recent competitiveness will be here to stay) they make up for in loyalty. They love their Guardians and Cavaliers, but Cleveland is a football city and their hearts will always belong to the Browns and even as a Steeler fan, I will be among those cheering when Cleveland finally wins a Super Bowl so that I can feel better about hating them.

Canty clearly didn't do his research. Art Modell, the "old" Browns' owner, didn't wanna participate in the project that got the Cleveland Indians (now Guardians) and the Cleveland Cavaliers new venues because he thought his revenues wouldn't drop. He couldn't have been more wrong. He was stuck in a stadium that was becoming more obsolete by the year and his money was getting low, especially as NFL player salaries grew like weeds. The "old" Browns had 3 years remaining on their lease when Modell jumped ship and he had little to no leverage when he decided to jump ship. Fans came out in droves in the '90s and the "new" Browns have been well supported for a quarter century.

Networks really need to vet who they bring in as analysts, Canty isn't the only oneor even the first one whose said stupid stuff like this BUT this is common knowledge to most football fans who were at least born in the 1990's, there's several documentaries on what happened. This information is extremely accessible, instead Canty took the lazy route

I've never even been in Ohio and I remember following the news of the "old" Browns' relocation (sans heritage) as a 14-year-old boy. Even then, I knew it was because Cleveland Stadium was garbage and not because fans stopped caring like what happened in Houston in the mid-'90s. Canty has no excuse IMO.

ESPN actually picked the Browns to win the Superbowl their last season before they moved to Baltimore. They were tied with the Steelers for first place in the AFC Central when Modell made the announcement and that totally deflated that team.

Sometimes, Cleveland's sports teams over the past 45 years have also had some of the worst, ill-timed, shitty, terrible bad luck happen to them like The Fumble (even though if Byner doesn't fumble the ball near Denver's end zone and Browns.score, it only ties the game, who knows if Elway and Denver don't pull off some other last-minute insane, unbelievable win like he did before. No honest Cleveland-area sports fan over the age of 40 or Browns fan can say with absolute certainty they win The Fumble game even if Byner doesn't get stripped by Jeremiah Castille) The Drive was another case of bad, shitty luck but also terrible late-game coaching by Marty Schottenheimer not heavily blitzing Elway with Denver's back to their end zones. To stop Elway, mean being very aggressive and usually smart, delayed blitz packages worked against him. You don't allow John Elway to sit back there in the pocket or manuever around to find open WR's when only 3-4 D-linemen are rushing him. Cleveland had a great secondary with Minnifield and Dixon, Marty got way too conservative at the wrong time and allowed a scrambling, MVP-CALIBER, playmaker to do his thing. And, when Browns got the ball first in OT during the 1986 AFCCG, they punted on downs instead of really trying to march down the field and win the game. Many Denver players later on commented that they interpreted that as a sign of Browns or Schottenheimer not being totally committed to winning. The Drive, perhaps the Shot, 1997 Indians WS collapse in Game 7, their 2016 collapse were painful, heartbreaking losses, but they were avoidable/preventable ones that were caused by bad, indecisive coaching, inept, impulsive, late-game management by NBA HC's, MLB managers. LeBron leaving for Miami in summer 2010 (The Decision) likely couldve been avoided if Dan Gilbert actually tries maybe a little harder to give James better supporting casts like Spurs, Lakers, and now Boston has with Tatum, Jaylem Brown. LeBron knew eventually he'd stand a better chance of winning multiple NBA titles with a superteam "Big Three" then just being forced to slog it out mostly alone by himself once the Divisional Round came along. From 2003/04-2010, even LeBron needed help and more often then not, Dan Gilbert didnt provide it to him.
