@Adamkalb12 жыл бұрын
Oh, I _love_ Back to the Future! For me, it sets a good precedent on how to make a successful, popular movie without any A-list celebrities in the main cast and with very few, if any special effects. The second and third Back to the Future films only had a budget increase of 11 million dollars from the first film, whereas The Terminator, another famous time-travel film to come one year before Back to the Future, started with 12.6 million dollars less than Back to the Future, then had two big budget jumps across two decades of 95.6 million more dollars for the second film Judgement Day, and another 98 million more dollars for the third film Rise of the Machines, mostly because the second and third Terminators required more expensive special effects that advanced with the times. I have to give MJF a load of credit. Going through this disease starting at such a young age, just seems unfair. Then when he broke his arm.... I broke my arm a couple years ago. I'm in my 60's so I can relate to the difficulties of having to deal with that. MJF, however, had to deal with that along with Parkinsons. I can say, it must have been excruciatingly painful for him. I say that because they didn't put my arm in a cast. I had to leave it splinted until they inserted a rod. It took a week for me to get the surgery so any movement whatsoever, would cause terrible pain. If he wasn't in a cast I cannot imagine the pain he would have had to deal with, considering Parkinsons causes so many involuntary movements. That had to be a nightmare. I remember, like MJF, standing outside of the store I fell in, leaning on a trash bin, waiting for an ambulance. It was just terrible. I love all of his work. The Scrubs episode was especially good. Oh and one last thing. His BTTF movies play a big role in my life. My daughter and I went to those movies together. When I got divorced shortly after, my daughter told me those movies always make her smile because it remindes her of our movie dates when she was just a little girl. God bless MJF, he truly is an inspiration for many! Sorry this got long.

It is also amazing that Fox is such a great actor that he manages to make his Parkinson symptoms look elegant and natural. I've seen people with P., and they look anything but elegant or natural.
@sfcmp70052 жыл бұрын
@@annettegenovesi That is very true. You know it could be that because he got the disease at such a young age he was able to slowly adjust to it over the years. Verses getting it at, let's say age 65 and trying to manage it real quick. This next part is long but the info is interesting: Frankie Valli (FV) of the Four Seasons, had a similar situation. He was slowly going deaf, starting in the late 60's. But no one ever knew. Going deaf for a singer is definitely a career killer. He eventually got 85% of his hearing back in like 1980, when technology caught up with him, and he was able to find a Dr willing to do the surgery. Had he just lost his hearing real quick, he wouldn't have had the benefit of slowly adjusting to it so people wouldn't know. This is why I think, he was able to keep working. There are videos out there where he is recording a couple songs, and he would hold a headset to his ear. On stage he had to just wing it, and hope he was in key. I give guys like, MJF and FV a lot of credit. It takes a very brave person to get up in front of thousands if not millions of people, and lay it on the line.
@annettegenovesi2 жыл бұрын
@@sfcmp7005 Sure does. And one of my favorite classical composers, Ludwig van, also went deaf. Like him, Frankie Valli probably heard the music in his head. I do remember the Four Seasons from my youth. Thanks for the interesting info.

You can see how much respect Lloyd has for Fox in an interview (do not remember which one) you can see fox almost falls onto the couch from his parkinsons, Lloyd sees that and braces him helping him sit without falling, but he does it in a very casual way without drawing attention to it, to which Mike looks at him with a look of appreciation at the act but says nothing.That unspoken support for him shows jus thow much he cares, and I honestly think with as private as Lloyd is he agrees to do these BTTF events because Mike is going to be there and he wants to be supportive

My favorite Christopher Lloyd role besides Doc Brown was Reverend Jim on taxi, which is also one of my favorite shows of all time. I enjoyed each of the movies from the trilogy. I appreciate when people put together great stuff like this video. What eludes me is why they never do the research on the pronunciation of gigawatt. Oddly enough, the way Doc Brown pronounce it, is the most correct, albeit not the most popular. This is because giga is derived from the Greek word, gigas, meaning giant.
@jeffrector88312 жыл бұрын
Actually, the writers/director, Zemeckis and Gale did research the name with an real physicist consultant, who - back in the early 80's and before it became more widely known as it is today - did pronounce it "jig-a-wat," from apparently the Greek root "gigas," usually pronounced with a soft g (as in "j"). Do a search on "gigawatt pronunciation" you'll see a lot of interesting dual-explanations.
