***Don’t do this people!! Thermostat was installed backwards. Spring ALWAYS goes into the manifold with bleeder hole at the 12 o’clock position.

Thank you,crazy video,whats disturbing is how the uploader thinks there are options,there isn't,it only goes in one way,also,many thermostats dont have that bleeder or whatever is supposed to go on top, mine doesn't , car runs at 190 all day long.

So, just to be clear. Thermostat contacts water connection pipe part directly, metal to metal. The gasket sets between the thermostat and the motor?
@riverrat8647 Жыл бұрын
@@aheroictaxidriver3180 the gasket in the video is correct. The thermostat is backwards.

@@riverrat8647 OK cool. I looked at other videos too and they all show the gasket between the thermostat and the motor. This is obvious if the connection pipe part has an inset. But I haven't disassembled it yet. Thanks.

Good video except the direction was originally correct. You put the new one in backwards. The hole can still be at the top.

Thanks! It sure works better though. Before it would spike up real high and then run normal.

Oh, yeah. Make you pay for having the distributor up front lol

The button on the thermostat has to go towards the engine.... To better understand... The engine produces the heat in order for the thermostat to open, the radiator doesn't produce heat, it dissipates heat.

Thanks for dropping by. That is how I had it installed, and it caused heating issues. The service manual shows it installed the way I did it, and that also solved the heating issue.

@@brokentoolgarage I did that one time too. I’m working on my fox right now too
