Sgt Jones, October 11 1969 I narrowly escaped your exact situation . I hit a wire connected to an anti personnel mine in Vietnam. I was 41 days in country. Fortunately for me and a miracle from GOD I escaped losing any limbs. The explosion put a hole in my steel pot just above my left ear big enough to drop a nickel through . It rendered the PRC25 radio I was wearing useless and I received shrapnel both legs, arms. torso and head. Only spent 4 months in the hospital. You sir are truly an inspiration. My prayers are with you brother.

Hey, Joey, my husband was 23 when he lost his left leg high up and a damaged right leg. He went to college, became a CPA, and was a great golfer winning tournaments against guys who had two good legs. I lost him in 2020 at 69 from a heart attack. He proved that humans have incredible strength. You definitely have proofed yourself to be an incredible human. Never give up and never stop moving forward.

I've been a fan of JJJ ever since I first saw him on Fox, and especially like him on the Outfield! show. His sense of humor and jokes about his legs are priceless, and he's one of their best and most knowledgeable extemporaneous speakers, period. I especially remember the way he explained these fake apologies that come only after some celebrity or pundit has been busted for lying or denigrating someone. He said that the apology only counts if you do it BEFORE being busted publicly. After that, it's only self-serving BS that nobody believes is sincere. People who were raised right, like JJJ know that instinctively. Thank you always for your service, Johnny Joey Jones. I'll make a note of August 6th and my family and I will honor you and all Marines on that day from now on.

I have a friend that i worked with on the drilling rigs. We were drilling a hole in northern Alberta Canada. On our last night of work we all had breakfast and showers and packed our belongings to load into out warming vehicles. As we all parted ways. My friend decided to do some scouting for game. The temperatures were very cold around the minus thirties. He walked near a beaver house a fell through getting totally soaked from the hips down. Unable to get a fire going he started walking back to his vehicle. Which didn't go well. He became lost and was walking in circles. On the third day he managed to make it to his vehicle. He lost both his feet from the knees down. We searched for and from the helicopter you can see all his endless wandering. Dragging his frozen legs. Most would've gave and die. He never told anyone his plans to go scouting for moose. If he had told someone we would've found him sooner for sure.

I’m a 66 year old male and one thing I’ve always noticed in life is that… when someone talks the talk ALMOST ALWAYS they don’t!!! Walk the walk. (ie walz) And people who walked the walk almost always are the last ones who will take credit for anything. Been watching Joey jones on Fox for aprox. 6 months and just learned of his incident IN ! WAR ! and not once does this guy try to put himself on a pedestal . Even in your condition Joey you could run circles around Timmy cause of your freaking shear determination. Brother, Semper Fi, you make me proud to have been a Marine along with many other of our brothers that gave all. As a Vietnam veteran (68 - 69) most of us had a difficult time when we returned and no one appreciated our sacrifices. I eventually recovered after five years of nightmares and other issues. Even if they had offered help to us I doubt if many would accept because that is the Marine Corps credos to never admit weakness. You are an outstanding Marine and person. I salute you.
