Fox Racing Launch Knee/Shin Guard vs Raceface Ambush Knee Guards

you would think this knee pads had more reviews being fox but man it was a pain in the #$% to try and find info about them this video made me bought them my knee is hurt so i havent been able to ride with them on but ill be done for the weekend really excited

@@gaboleo94 I hear you, it seems many pads and other equipment are missing reviews and input from riders, which makes it hard to determine what you may like. The pads are very nice, they just didn't work out for myself and my son. We ended up going with Race Face and 7DPi pads.

I returned mine. I tried both small and medium sizes but both of them are very uncomfortable to ride. I went back to my G-Form knee/shin guard and its very comfortable that you can wear it all day.

Zedek we are both using Raceface guards now. The Fox ones just didn’t work for us.

I have the Raceface Flank knee pads which also protect the shins a little bit. They offer good protection but I would not want to wear them riding in the summer heat. Hence I carry them in my backpack and put them on whenever I feel it will get rough.

pophase I just bought the Raceface flank guards as well. They are very comfortable to wear, much more than the Fox ones. I got my son the Raceface sendy knee guards. He likes them better too.

Thank you kind stranger on the internet. I have the exactly same fox knee/shin pads and in the year of riding them ( lots of small climbs here in there) I tried them in different ways- on pants, shorts and under pants. I tryed to put them on half band, all way band and straight knee and I even put some fabric between the skin and straps- it just keep irritating skin to red mark amd even blood few times. In different videos people dont seem to talk about how to wear them and com comfortable they are but you did point out that issue so thank you for that. Now I will search for some different knee pads. Once again thank you and have a good day commrades

I think you would need to be pedaling with your saddle all the way down (which I just don’t do) in order to bend your knees that much. I would’ve liked to see the demonstration with you sitting on your bike and spinning the pedals instead of sitting on a chair.

I'll keep that in mind for when we review knee guards again. His saddle was at the proper height, as was mine. It just didn't seem to work for him with that type and brand. He now uses Seven iDP knee guards and has no problems with them.

You should check out the new version that is currently on sale on Fox site. It’s a slip on design and they are a lot more comfortable than the old version bc there is no hole which means no pinch points. 👍🏻

I'm choosing shin protection every time , that one pedal bite tore my shins up to shreds and I spent a month down and 8 stitches

I have the Fox ones and I am considering on replacing it with the ambush, same problem for me. I also went through the instruction manual that came with the fox, and I saw that the pads were described more towards motocross and not for cycling.

That’s what we did as well. I’m using the Ambush ones, and they are comfortable to wear for long periods. My son is now using all 7 Protection gear. It fits him really well, and he likes it.

I have the launch pros. They’re snug and I know they’re there. They say the best pads are the ones who don’t feel them but I’m opposite. I feel confident to know I’m somewhat protected just in case. The shin guard is also a plus!

How do they feel around the knees when you pedal. Does it rub and irritate the skin like mine are? I’ll check those out and see how they feel.

I went to a local shop near my place try the Fox and found them very uncomfortable it pinches in the same place! Would not recommended, in fact I'm very surprise that fox put this product out there...

Alex Arbeloa yes. We have Raceface now. The sendy knee and mine are knee and shin guards. Both are very comfortable. I’ll review both those soon.

To find a good shin protection is pretty hard, there are some socks from Ion for exsample but there are expensive. I dont know maybe I try the new FOX Titian Race kneeprotection, if the fit is well I would take it.

The rubbing issue doesn't happen to me i think you need to pull them upwards and place them correctly if the upper part is well placed it wont rub need to test this tho but i didn't even felt that when i tried them on!

We tried adjusting them as we did like them, however the Fox pads just didn't work for us, and all pads don't work for everyone. The Raceface ones work well for me, and the 7DPi pads work well for my son.

That pinching at the back with fox will kill you on long pedalling, And it is also the same with the RF Ambush D30. It didn't work at all for me.

i have the same problem with Fo Launch Pro, in a few minutes irritates my knees, was horrible and here in Colombia, Fox sells this mainly for MTB priority than motocross. Im selling them at this moment but the high price makes it difficult to sell. Horrible experience whith FOX knee pads!!!

This is a couple years old, but if you're still checking... I'm looking for knee/shin guards. I ride mostly DH and have slipped off my pedals so many times I just can't convince myself to go knee only, but I'm having a hard time finding ones that look like they'll work. I have some really old RF ones, but the elastic is going bad. I'm pretty small so they fit like the Fox ones on your son. I really don't like the full compression sleeve kind, but that seems to be the norm these days.. they don't fit properly though and it's a struggle. Did you end up finding another knee/shin guard that can open up or is mostly open in the back? a lot of them look a lot shorter too. Thanks!

I'm still using the Race Face ones. I've tried Fox and 7iDP as well. While the 7iDP ones are nice and still fit well, they are harder to get on and off, and you need to remove your shoes to do so. The race face ones are easy to put on and off, stay in place, and are comfortable enough that you are not too aware you are using them.

@anah9288 Check out the newer version of the Fox Knee/shin guards. They are slip on and more comfortable as there is no hole so no pinch points. They are all similar design between the Base level Launch knee/shin and the Launch Pro and Launch Elite. The base model is currently on sale on the Fox site
