Fox shooting on a golf course

In this episode of 'Outfoxing' Roy Lupton is helping to rid the foxes from the manicured fairways and greens of a golf course. He soon gets into the swing of things and by using a variety of different calls manages to get the foxes coming in beautifully. He might not achieve 18 holes - but he doesn't do badly. Who says golf ruins a good walk?

I am a golf course manager in the county of Wiltshire and have worked on golf courses for close on 30 years, we have major problems with rabbits digging holes in bunkers every night and crows, rooks and badgers digging for chafer grubs and leather jackets. This year 2013, the crows and rooks have caused far more damage than all the others put together, so much so that I have just applied for my f a c to try to control the numbers. Bit in all my years of experience I have NEVER seen any reason to shoot a fox on a golf course. They are natural, free pest controller in that environment. I understand that some farmers may wish to shoot them to protect their stock, but my members would lynch me if I took out the foxes. I don't get why a course manager would want or allow this to happen.

HI - Roy uses a Sako .243 - For this he used 70 gr nosler ballistic tips.

Bullet passes through your fox at 2.31 and cuts some brush down above it, am sure your backstop was good though. Good clean shooting guys.

you can never rely on your BEST call ive found on a great area similar to this one and ive had great success even with the buttolo then maybe hand or wam .but one of the most reliable call is a shot,the dinner bell .sometimes silence isnt golden

Just a question, can you explain why the rounds can be seen in the video. .243 with more than 3000fps means that the bullet hits the fox before the noise is heard, with the video you can hear the shot then see the flight of the bullet then hit the fox..maybe lighter loads, I would guess that they are traveling slower than normal .243 would be interested to know..thanks for the great video series and love the air gun fox video Daystate Air ranger 68fpe .22 fox no problems @50m HS only

that many foxes suggest to me that they have probably been released by some animal sanctuary or the rspca which would probably account for how easy they came in to the squealer but nice shooting anyway

no, that may not be the case at all, it all depends on whether there is a staple food source somewhere in the area for example, in the town where I used to live there is a large overgrown landfill site and standing on the top of it and scanning through 360 degrees with a Deben Tracer, I used to see sometimes up to 20 pairs of fox eyes pinging back in the dark. If there is a staple foood source nearby, foxes will flourish.
