Hurricane Ian expected to make landfall as a category 3 or 4 storm

As of 11 p.m. Tuesday night, Hurricane Ian was 110 miles southwest of Naples. FOX 13 Chief Meteorologist Paul Dellegatto expects Ian to make landfall near the Cape Coral/ Fort Myers area as a category 3 or 4 hurricane. He says Ian will cause a storm surge. He also expects a lot of residents in Tampa and southward to lose power. Dellegatto says he wouldn’t be surprise if Tampa Bay had less water in it by Wednesday morning due to a northeast wind pushing the water offshore. He said we can expect winds of up to 100 miles per hour in southern Sarasota County and toward Fort Myers.

I have driven 6 hours today and totally exhausted. In Pinellas county had to evacuate because I live on the Gulf, so we drove to Naples to stay with friends. In Naples our friends are told they have to evacuate cause of tornados and hurricane. So we decided to go back home and sleep in our comfy bed. stay safe everyone 😘

@@earlthepearl4161 Very Productive, sightseeing through all these cities during a storm, helping my sister clean up her cats puke and poop in her crate, cleaning my sisters arm an blouse of the poop, then the grand finale was…loosing my sister’s car behind me cause she drives like a snail where as I am driving at 70 trying to get to the Sunshine Sky bridge before they shut it, because of high winds. She made it, hour behind me and we will always remember this Productive Day 😂👍

Naturally they want to go over to the western Gulf so there has to be another weather system or dip in jet stream to guide it our way. Not diminishing the possible devastation, scientists and engineers should be working on ways to stop these in their track. I understand satellites can detect an eye forming when its about 1/4 of a mile across. Small enough to have one of the weaker walls blown apart with munitions or microwave technology.
