@Timothah Molone Lightfoot might seem as if it were or could have been a native Indian name. There was a HoGa Lightfoot in the 18th century of the Cherokee nation. But his name probably derived from Captain John Lightfoot, an Indian agent in Virginia who had married a Cherokee woman. Lighfoot originated from England originally spelled Lytfoot All the biographies I have seen shows that she is 100% black. She never claims to have any native blood. You are a typical "affirmative action" voter, vote on race rather for qualification. She is black, a woman, and gay. That is the only qualification needed if you are democrat and the city has suffered becuase of that. I used to live in Chicago, got out of that hellhole, laughing now as that city is heading into third world status.

Lori Lightfoot was not Chicago's worse mayor. Rahm Emmanuel was equally bad. How soon we forget. There were some dark days with both former mayors. Chicago's mayoral races, since '87, have had a serious lack of viable candidates. That's how Daley stayed in office so long b/c he had no competition. I don't believe none of the candidates will make significant changes in Chicago. Just the same old status quo. I think we're so focused on getting rid of Lori or Rahm that we will just put anybody in that seat. Vallas is going to win this one just base off the taxes Johnson wants to implement.

How can any politician think they can increase taxes in a failing city??? The only people that pay taxes, are those that work and create wealth. Why would those folks stay and try to salvage a welfare system run city, with no law and order??? I don't know how you abandon a whole city, but in this case it does seem necessary. A bankrupt city might be eligible for some sort of disaster relief funds, just like when a hurricane wipes out an area of the country. If I was a business owner in Chicago, that required public interaction on a daily basis I would leave and relocate elsewhere. If my business was one of bulk wholesale products, like fertilizer, iron ore, coal, bulk grains, etc., I would stay, or even relocate there, because crime, like retail theft does not affect my bottom line, and I can save money on labor, because of city/government incentives to hire local workers at a below market price, but my workers would still have below market rent prices. I don't need skilled people, as bulk cargo is not especially subject to theft or vandalism, and only requires that the workers have some level of physical strength. This tacit, might allow a welfare city to shake off its lawlessness, as criminals, and the perpetual homeless folks will be forced to move to where there are better opportunities for crime, and theft. Retail theft would no longer be profitable, and theft of groceries could be controlled simply by raising prices every time profits fell. It's a brutal tact, but it allows for the citizens remaining in Chicago, to self-correct. Either they as citizens of the city all work together to stop crime, or all suffer from the commission of those crimes. You don't need a large police force, when you have an enlightened citizenry, as they will self-report, and stop crimes before they happen. Good hard-working folks stay, and reclaim their city, and will constantly monitor corrupt government officials, like the Chicago School Board. Chicago spends over twice per pupil per capita, than any other city in our nation. WHY??? Thier graduation rate is very poor, and those that do graduate are mostly functionally illiterate. This is because educational funds are diverted by corrupt politicians and local bureaucrats for personal gain. Smaller student populations will force accountability, as officials will no longer be able to function anonymously. Corruption will leave Chicago, because the corrupt will simply move elsewhere looking for more lucrative opportunities. The city will be rebuilt by its citizenry, and its rebirth from nothing will allow its citizens to eliminate corruption, before it starts. Chicago can and will rise again like the Phoenix, from its own ashes. Race, color, creed, and WOKEism, will have no part in it. Merit, and meritocracy will replace mediocrity, and nepotism. What will count is ability, and hard work, not corruption, filth and greed. People will rise based upon their own abilities, and be rewarded for production of wealth, not consumption and welfare.
