Giant pandas depart DC’s National Zoo for China

D.C.’s giant pandas are departing the Smithsonian’s National Zoo and returning to China Wednesday, November 8.

Smithsonian spends ONE MILLION DOLLARS A YEAR on the pandas. Smithsonian should instead pass that money to organizations to get housing for all the homeless in DC.

My understanding is that unlike pandas in South Korea where a lot of Chinese in China appealed to let them continue to stay in Korea, American born Chinese and native Chinese can’t wait to sent these panda back to their hometown China. Doesn’t that say something?

China should refrain from sending pandas to countries with hostile relations, especially when the well-being of pandas like Ya Ya at the Tennessee zoo is in jeopardy. Fortunately, a recently released video shows a significant improvement in Ya Ya's health after her return to the Beijing Zoo.
