Is it me or did the recently-discharged Professor argue that, had it not been an emotionally charged political demonstration, his actions would, most likely, not have been prosecuted? Is he so self-absorbed that he can’t imagine the effect his acting out and, by implication, encouraging others to do so had on the officers attempting to keep the peace? He was prosecuted because he yelled expletives directly at police, made an aggressive “finger-in-face” gesture and then engaged in a bit of bike tugging and minor bike damage. He should stay fired because both his actions on that day and his “defence” argument are low-grade.
