That car's going to look great when you're done. Maybe not a show car,but who needs a six figure paint job. I don't want my car perfect because I drive it everywhere and if it was perfect I'd be afraid to park it.

I have 92 LX 5.0 5 speed vert and although she is garage kept for pretty much her entire life i have a small star shaped crack apprx 1.5" circle bubbling up the paint about 4 inches down on the rear driver quarter. im guessing its rust coming through. Can you do a territorial on fixing a small rust spot on the flat face of the car. i would rather say i fixed it then bringing it to a shop. Thank you for providing great content and helping us less skilled- Tara

Can I use an orbital sander to sand the primer on my fox? Or is it really recommended to block sand?

I didn't read every comment but why wet block? I see many blocking primer dry except the final grit like 400 or 600.

You keep telling us we can do this stuff ourselves and I’m starting to believe you. Maybe I’ll paint my Fox myself. Probably not though lol. Can I just drop my 91 LX Vert off to you instead and what would be the charge? Seriously I have the room and I might just do it myself when the time comes. It doesn’t have to be perfect

52 seconds in. And I already fired Andrew. For going over the edge. Rule number one in wet sanding. You sand up to the edge, not over it. Your Edge is going to be the thickest material on the panel. Because paint does not stick to the surface. It actually locks its molecules together until it is holding on tightly, to the edge. And the meniscus that you get on the edge of the panel. Is actually, the most important part of the paint job. I painted thousands of cars in my lifetime. Over the course of 25 years in the shop. I don't mean any disrespect to Andrew. But, do your research. There is more than one source of information about paint. But they all unanimously agree. The Edge, whether it is your primer sealer or color or clear. Is where all the work is being done. Pro tip, you should always end your block sanding with horizontal lines. The human eye can pick up vertical lines very easily. It can pick up the squiggle marks (pigtails) from your da. Very easily. If I'm inspecting a car for resale. Or out of show. The first thing I'm looking for is those pigtails those are caused from moving your da to quickly across the panel. You are more likely to get these from cheap paper, then you are from mid-grade, or expensive paper . 3M paper last three times longer than most of your other papers on the market . Because they are designed to be the same height all the way across the surface. Those pigtails are going to tell me where the work was done. Dark colors highlight these very easily. Light colors, especially White, hides body work. Not from the professional. But from the consumer. Metallics, also will fall into the valleys of these scratches , and highlight them . One last pro-tip. Your body filler is rated on its Direct metal adhesion scale. When it says direct to metal on the side of the can. Which most of your body fillers are. Don't use them over the top of primer. They shrink at different rates. Except for epoxy. Epoxy does not shrink. If you do have to use filler over the top of your primer. Reprime it and block the whole thing all at once. I'll be getting into this and some of the videos that I'll be doing on my Ford truck.

Lots of great information brother! The entire panel has been re primed and no where on the panel has any blow through. The door was also sanded horizontal to soften those lines, it really does work. I’m definitely not a professional but I should have cleared a few more things up. I try to never put filler over non epoxy primer. If so.. it’s never over thick primer and it’s always a skim coat if I have to because of shrinkage . Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us it’s greatly appreciated 🤟
