@@Slithermotion yes the highest gun ownership but we are not allowed ammunition, the gun has to be in a locked hidden location with a hidden key and you have to undergo serious background checks and training before you ever get one

If the US wants to improve its ranking, it needs to ensure that not only the most privileged 1% benefits from the political and economic system. High ranking countries ensure that the political and economic system benefits much more citizens, which requires more and smart regulation combined with an efficient government accountable to the citizen. Difficult to achieve in the current split US society. And certainly not what Fox News stands for. From an outside view, I can only shake my head in disbelief that the US citizen seem to accept their situation and continue to vote for politicians who act not in their interest.

I'm from Switzerland and this is just wrong. Compared to the US we have a huge amount of economic regulations! You want more "freedom"? Make better social programs, better infrastructure (walkable cities, public transport), a better health care system and make the rich pay taxes!

We swiss also have common sense gun laws. The gun culture of switzerland is very different from the american one. We treat our guns with respect and not as toys.

@@xXDarkchiefXx I honestly think gun laws in switzerland are a lot more relaxed compared to a lot of US states. I still don‘t get what those SBR regulation in the US really mean. The main difference is that swiss men have to go to the military at some point hence they are trained on the rifles and got a proper education on how to use it safely. And maybe an unpopular opinion I think it‘s culture. Americans see their weapon as a tool for self defense. Swiss see their weapon as sport or most likely a tool to defend the country at some point.

Usually swiss who don‘t own a weapon just say it is stricter without having any knowledge about the subject. I just don‘t see how our acquiring laws are more strict then US ones. Here is the thing the swiss goverment gives every swiss male a full auto rifle home, not semi automatic. It would be illegal to use it in full auto but still…something like that doesn‘t exist in the us. And even as a civilian it isn‘t hard to get semi auto rifles.

But in many US states those weirdos can buy one ore more AR15 and might traffick them across the states e.g. to California. Upon retiring we moved to Switzerland because of the beautiful alps and lakes but most importantly because of a modest non-intrusive Federal government, local self-government and stable "classic" European culture.
