With what oil ? Canadian one that might be subject to tarrifs or entirely cut (absolute worst case scenario) ? Us refineries are geared up for Canadian and Venezuelian type of crude rich oil. Switching to lighter oil would require new refinery investments. And not even mentioning the transport: you don't pop pipelines overnight. Infrastructure you got is what you have to deal with in the short to mid future. If Trump is really committed to lower oil prices, he shouldn't attack Canada (unless he wants Venezuelian oil).

Some people never leave their homes or have a use for diesel, so they don't watch what it does at the pump. I use both diesel and gasoline. Any reduction in diesel will lower the cost for the trucks moving goods to the market and if that isn't convincing enough for you, look at what it would cost by going back the last four years and doing some calculations as to why the prices went up. It isn't just the cost of diesel, but it plays a big part. Raising the minimum wage adds to the cost of goods and services, but no one complains about a salary increase, do they?

Then out of every bbl of oil produced, you have lease operating expenses. Electric, water disposal, equipment leasing, land owner payments, royalty interest owner payments, lease Operator wages, third party workers (roustabout, electricians, trucking, etc) despite what everybody says about big oil companies and their records profits, there's a ton of expenses to get that bbl of oil.

I’d imagine it also keeps a “good” relationship as well because oil brings money and jobs to Canada. However, if we can afford to produce enough oil to be able to impose a tariff for Canada long enough to show them a lesson that their economy relies heavily on us, then, Canada will eventually fall into the trade deal forcefully.

ummm hate to tell you this but companies do not invest in 'drill baby drill" when the price of oil is low(which ironically will actually contribute to an even lower price of oil making it even MORE unprofitable), so like most of the ridiculous ideas he's pitched this week he's suggesting two completely contradictory solutions . Sadly all the guys on the screen know this but of course aren't going to state the obvious, and certainly not on Fox! The oil industry drills for more oil when prices are high because that's when its profitable to do so , when its low they do not. smh its complete nonsense to suggest this is how the worlds oil market may actually start working all of the sudden.

Dont forget oil is also based on futures. Now that he’s become president, moved forward with keystone pipeline, signed orders to drill. He’s changed the future, which will also bring prices down in the next month or so. You will see prices lowering sooner than we think

I remember when Saudi Arabia said they would open the tap, as a move to lower oil prices in response to Russia at the time and saw gasoline here at $1.49 per gallon. Increase in supply will lower the price. Simple economics
