I can't even begin to understand how this dangerous felon would be allowed on a plane. Some people have commented about the knowledge of the golf course. The guy's phone pinged in that area 12 hours earlier. I suspect he watched closely to see what the secret service does, as they survey areas prior to President Trump's arrival. So, last minute is a relative term. The streets around Trump are not monitored, unlike for a sitting president and vice president. Therefore, watching a secret service detail doing a preliminary would not be hard to do. I honestly don't think President Trump has the luxury to do anything last minute under such guarded circumstances.
