Stop acting like crossing the border illegally is some major crime. It's no different than someone, maybe a kid, taking a short cut across someone else's property. It's trespassing, nothing more and should be treated as such. IMHO, we need to 1st secure the border and stop the illegal entries. Then worry about the ones here. Deport those with a criminal history or that do commit major crimes, but people that are just looking for a better life and have committed no crime other than crossing the border without the proper paperwork, just fine them and give them a couple thousand hours of community service. As long as they make good on that they can stay. No chance of citizenship, but they can stay. That way instead of spending millions or billions trying to find and deport millions of people, let those millions of people come out of the dark and pay into the system. This bill does not carve out protections for people who are here legally. It is legal to be here under DACA. It is legal to arrive at a port of entry and ask for asylum. This kind of misinformation is political theatre to enforce laws that ALREADY exist, but to expand them to include purple who are here legally.
