Let me see if I get this right: FedEx ground is charging customers a surcharge for fuel usage, but the contractors that are actually using the fuel are not getting any of that money? That's got to be grounds for litigation, because at that point they're pilfering the customer at the expense of their contractor to up their profits. That has got to be the slimiest thing I have heard in a minute.

So we're going to spend $700b to solve the inflation problem....? You have to respect the audacity to name a bill with $700 Billion of new spending the "inflation reduction act" With inflation currently at about 9%, my primary concern is how to maximize my savings/retirement fund of about $300k which has been sitting duck since forever with zero to no gains. Sure I'm all in on the long term game, but with my savings lying waste to inflation and my portfolio losing gains daily, I need a remedy ASAP!!

They are independent contractors get paid by the boxes I know the guys on my route and the owner he owns 13 routes in my area the owner you can’t work with Amazon or anything else because it’s competition one of my drivers just left to work with sisco because it is salary operated. Express is diesel as well and it’s more because you are paying for it to get there fast .you go ground because it’s cheaper and depending on what state you are in you can go same day. Also there’s a reason why her package was left at the ware house it had something tagged in it. But that’s just like buying online your buying online yes but a retail store such as target or Walmart can be shipping it off to you by store saying it’s online because the warehouse doesn’t have it. Or the store took the revenue for it

If Ground can’t handle the volume(your package), it is rolled to the Express division(overnight service). Express is severely under staffed and it’s line haul is over stressed. They have been patching it together for years and saying nothings wrong. Express volume had been going to Ground for these reasons and most of all to turn a huge profit. Paying contractors is cheaper than company employees. If the volume flows back it will be interesting to see how Express handles it.

I used to be a FedEx contractor with multiple routes. It was when the lawsuits were happening, whether we were employees or not because FedEx dictated and told us what to do even though we were independent contractors. Essentially, what happened is that other than California where the drivers were granted additional routes. Each state essentially got a payoff to each state to accept their new business model so that they could force many contractors out to where contractors own a large number of routes to ensure that that wouldn't happen again. But even after all that FedEx still dictates terms and if you own a large number of routes you either do what they say or you lose them all. It's a terrible business model for the contractors.

Once there are enough DSPs to choose from, Amazon will start reducing rates as well. California has caught on to this gimmick and it's about time the rest of the country does the same.

The packages come down the belt like that all the time. The contractor is able to tell QA to inspect it, but most of the time they tape it up and put it on your truck. Then the contractors drivers have to deliver it or the contractor gets charged by FedEx. But if the customer complains, the contractor gets charged by FedEx. Also, loaders make average 19 an hour. Y'all drama queens, just learn that feces/stool that is even slightly malodorous indicates that one has toxemia. Rephrased, stinky poo is bad. Toxemia is a disease defined as an abundance of toxins in the body. That malodor is not okay, it is not normal, it is in fact a problem that needs to be corrected. This problem could take several years to several decades to correct on a case-by-case basis. Once one generates the kind of power a healthy gastrointestinal (GI) tract yields, one can read the book "Taoist Yoga" by Eric Yudelove which breaks down life force into three tiers of orgasm. Statistically, very few know about the third tier, the testicular and uterine orgasmic tier. Societal foundation reconstructed. Not that complicated.

don't believe this guy complaining... is he getting a bad deal? probably... but he doesn't seem to understand how FedEx works. He talks about money being made from the whole FedEx corporation, then just talks about his contract position with Ground, which would be a very small part of fuel expenses to all of the whole FedEx corp, which is a lot more than the little Ground part that uses contractors. Maybe he should switch to Amazon delivery which works as contractors too, I hear everyone is complaining about fuel prices.
@kmf1392
@kmf1392 Жыл бұрын
@@AyaWetts FedEx Ground is the #1 money maker for all of FedEx. The Ground contractors move magnitudes more freight than Express and Freight combined. Every Ground package is moved via a contractor, whether it be via a CDL driver and semi-truck, or delivery driver and step van. Any fuel surcharge for a GROUND package that does not go to the contractors is just pure profit for FedEx. If they were hiking prices for Express packages, then that would make more sense, and would go to covering their own operations. As it stands though, they are raising shipping prices for the consumers who use Ground, and none of that money is actually making it to the people who's costs have increased.
@AyaWetts
@AyaWetts Жыл бұрын
@@kmf1392 Ground is cheap, and always booms in the US during recession type periods. But its not always the #1 money maker. FedEx does charge fuel surcharges on ground, and from all I can tell in financial documentation, its passed along in some way to contractors as well. The problem right now is there are lawsuits over the use of contractors, and this guy is just repeating some of the items around these lawsuits trying to get contractors to be employees. Of course he will repeat it on air if he gets a chance. For hating FedEx policies so much, he really wants to work for them badly.

I just dealt with a wonderful fedex guy . My package may have taken a while but it made it. So its not everyone that is horrible. Being patient is even more important in society today. After working in retail and last time seeing how irritated customers get so easily sometimes or try to get stuff at higher discount than offered it is barter town out here. I know life is hard too but don’t take it out on those who are working very hard.

So contractors are, in a sense, held hostage with the threat of FedEx pulling the contract, which ends the businesses association with FedEx. I did this myself for 17 years. Every year the contract was presented to me I had the option to sign it as FedEx had it written or.....I if I chose not to sign, then FedEx would have offered the route areas to someone else. @@stephenkalatucka6213 I once applied for a job as a delivery driver. It was not for fedex but a British company, did a month or so of training. What I realised is that, before the driver can start loading their truck, warehouse workers must first distribute the deliveries for the day. They are also restricted by time. The drivers had to load the packages that are for their area, sometimes they have like 30 minutes to load their truck and go delivering. Nobody intentionally messes up the packages, but once you start delivering, the items start swinging around whilst driving.

@@koreyb Fedex has always been about efficiency and with striving for efficiency, people are going to gripe. But Fedex is taking the largest portion of the market share because of it AND giving a more affordable service to its customers. UPS has always gone with the slogan of "We're not USPS!" so they're a bloated, union-run company that is losing ground in the parcel world. Yes, their drivers are paid better and so they might care more about bringing your package to you without damaging it but you're literally paying for that. Now, most of the damage happens in the sorting centers ANYWAY so I wouldn't get your feathers too ruffled over the end delivery guy. Look up videos about these massive, conveyor-belt run facilities and all the forklifts and guys who have to handle tens of thousands of packages a day. Some are going to get banged up especially when they hit several of these sorting centers.

How is that any different than collecting funds to help widows and orphans, and not passing on any of those funds to benefit widows and orphans? Straight up fruad.

Fedex and the contractors share fuel costs. Fedex raised prices because they paid the contractors more in fuel reimbursement, but they didn't cover all of the cost. That's the point of the contract. 2 years ago the contractors were swimming in money with all the bonuses they received due to covid.
