My "farmer logic" guess is that the side force generators inhibit lateral slide, when turning "in anger" in a race. Then you want to turn tight and not drift. On a freestyle rig that basically works against you when you do "ballistic" drops and hang time. Just my basic fluid dynamics theory though :-)

I guess I also have some "farmer blood" running in my vains :P What racers tell me the rails (also?) make it easier to run a straight line at speed....

Hey DRC, very nice build and I love that frame (may purchase for my next build). I'm currently building on the Impulse alien 5" frame with 6" arms, Foxeer predictor 5 mini 1000tvl camera, Mamba F405MK2 30mm mount FC and Crazy pony 2206 2700kv motors. I haven't decided on receiver and vtx as of yet.. Thank you for sharing this awesome video. I will have a video of it once I complete the build.

Oehlala bro! An Alien build.. very nice! I have been considering the Apex.. (but then I bould 4 Foxeer frames for the same $$) Let me know when you have a video! I don't have time to keep an eye on subscriptions these days :$ And yep.. this Rotorama frame looks sexy or what? :P

I have made myself a little pigtail for using 2 single cell batteries as a 2S pack. Maybe it could be an option to try it on 8S. Pick 2 packs of 4S 1100 mAh or so and connect them with a pigtail. You probably will need 14-wire, but then you have the 8S voltage. When I will build my 4S Calypso I will try this method with my GNB 2S 500 mAh packs, before I get hold of proper GNB 4S 500 mAh 90C packs. They are amazingly good on 2S at least.

Yeahhh that would indeed work.. I used that setup for the first 6S 3" quads.. There were no good small 6S packs around back then :) I do Not like the wire mess it creates though :D but.. yep.. it would work :)

ps: You can also simply solder 2 XT60's / XT30's to the quad directly in series.. And if you then only want to use 1 at some point: bridge 1 of them with a shorted plug...

You could have used 2 4S batts in series for 8S voltage.
