When my grandmothers family(condon from fermoy) left Ireland to move to Canada, they started a woollen mill here and it became known Canada wide as some of the best wool blankets you could own. Great story! Thanks for continuing to share such rich history

A very sad story. I blame the British for those who died in the great famine. (After reading factual books) God bless Sister Agnes and her community for rescuing these people of God, uplifting them, giving them a purpose in life. Thank you Fr for sharing another real gem. Real wool is hard to come by these days, espdcialky heremin South Africa.

My 3rd great grandparents were from Foxford running away from the potato famine he married and he alisted in the Army, they left for every 10 soldiers a wife was admitted to take care of cooking and washing clothes for the other nine batchelors, they first were sent to Cape Town, after that, they had to go to Tasmania, and the rest of the time he was enlisted they were in in Madras where my great great grandmother was born, with a serious Arthritis and 20 years of enlistment he was retired becoming part of the Chelsea Pensioners, in England the had two more children a boy and a girl. the Government decided to give use of the idle pensioners so they send them to the Falkland Islands where they died and were buried, he worked as a policeman. He was Edward Roach and she was Ellen Judge. On my father side they were planters that mixed with the Irish going back to most of the kings including Brian Boru. What a Contrast!! ¡Viva Cristo Rey! I'm writing from Spain, and thank you for giving me a glimpse of Foxford,
