So tired of the word “mansion” (just like “billionaire”). Where did rich people get such bad taste. I look at houses for sale all the time and I have NEVER seen one of 8-10 thousand square feet that I didn’t think was ugly. Can you just live in a house, a fairly large and yes luxurious house, but within reason - look at Donald Trump. I doubt if that man has even one material possession, real estate or otherwise, that I would ever be jealous of. Actually I guess it’s nothing new. Those Vanderbilt mansions in Newport are gaudy and ostentatious. Edith Wharton thought so. In addition to being an author she was an interior designer who believed in elegance but with restraint. Now we’re back to stupid looking mansions that just scream vulgarity. And what’s with the having more bathrooms than bedrooms - who’s going to clean them (?)
