Might not be the worst idea though, if you are having a stinker and Gal or whoever you target (that you know is going to hit you) then good way have an impact on the game, while making Gal (or other target) sit on the sidelines. If you get knocked out or sin binned, then it's just part and parcel.

​@@MLR884he's sorta right. Tallis never picked fights with Harragon, David Furner, Ian Roberts, Jason Stevens or anyone that would go toe to toe with him. Tallis fought Terry OConnor once in a test vs England, hit him 6 or so times caught him off guard, didn't even leave a mark. Terry OConnor got some balance, hit him once, Tallis walked off to the blood bin haemmorhaging. The people in England that know still say Tallis was very lucky that fight was broken up when it was, he was about to get his ass handed to him.

“The Battle of Brookvale”… I remember it well… It was a cracker 👊😜👍. I’ll go a little further back & recall “the cage bout” at the old Lang Park in an Aussies vs Kiwis test match between Greg Dowling & Kevin Tamati, where they began fighting right at the fence in front of the crowd seated behind old mesh fencing. It was wild.

@@mrdbooks7285 … The Aussies vs Kiwis tests of the mid to late 80’s & early 90’s were almost always full of fireworks & non stop fights. One particularly savage one broke at in a match in NZ (Carlaw Park I think it was) when Brendon Tuuta (from NZ) stopped Paul Vautin’s progress in a game with his knees to Vautin’s head while on the ground. Imagine if that infamous clash between Mark Geyer & Wally Lewis in an Origin game in Sydney had escalated into a full blown punch-on? I think it was in the early 90’s. Geyer looked like he wanted to rip Wally’s head off 😆😆😆

Given what's happening in the NFL with weak as piss roughing the passer penalties to protect QB's nowadays, I don't think the Yanks are the ones to set the bar for a ruthlessly tough game. Both the NRL and NFL are ridiculously hard still, but suggesting no fighting is the reason the US isn't bought in is dumb given how the NFL has adapted its rules to also be less grubby.

The best game for biff was back in the day when the Qld Police Academy played the NSW Police Academy as a prelude to the State of Origin game in Brisbane. Only played it twice I think. Couldn't get insurance for the players I was told. Then they tried the Qld Police Academy vs the Brisbane Natives, an Aboriginal team. The cops were to big and too fit. That didn't last long either.
