Maybe not middle school. One needs to learn to debate correctly and it doesn't happen overnight. There is a reason some are sharp at debating and it comes from years of working at it. Your analytical skills must be spot on rather than parked in a handicapped spot in your skull. There are classes which teach these skills in HS/callege. I never took them but have friends who did. It's best not to engage them in any controversial discourse as they can debate both sides of it while you are fumbling for coherent thought. It's like going up against a master chess player when your skill ends at checkers.
