My wife is black, and she is one of the most qualified and hardest workers at her job. That doesn't stop many of the white workers from harassing her by telling her she wouldn't have gotten her job if she wasn't black. They deride her for stealing a job from a white person. I'm a minority woman. There are less than 1% of us in the USA but I'm against DEI. Hire the best, regardless of race or gender. I avoided red states for my doctorate but tried a handful for post doctorate as there were less than 40 programs were available nationwide. Texas and Kentucky didn't care what I looked like. They treated me the same as Ivy Leagues. That was 20 years ago.
