I would say if you plan to put your home in your son’s name or give away any significant amount of your $$ do it now. If you need Long Term Care (nursing home or assisted living) in the future most states in the U.S. do a 5-7 year look back period and will make you put your home for sale to pay for costs associated with your care. Just need to equalize the profit incentive that exists to move production out of the US so that doing so doesn't make manufacturing and shipping products largely designed in the US overseas back in the US to sell still cost less and earn higher profits due to taxes and regulation from government making the choice for business basically not an option to stay in the US to be competitive. It really didn't begin to say made in China on everything until after Bill Clinton helped China get reserve currency status globally back in the 90's and then China started designating whole regions to special economic zones to lure in all the foreign production to China and away from where they were originally based. They should have just opened production in China also to sell to the Chinese not to ship across the planet and still undercut competition while not allowing foreign brands to sell to the Chinese market while subsidizing Chinese version of foreign products that was entirely stolen with ease because they had all the expertise and machines moved to them and give the equipment and have the foreigners train them how to use it.. Then the foreigners would be fired after they return home.

If someone supports American businesses, not cheap-labor foreign goods, they will support tariffs. After WWII, tariffs were dropped against Japan and Germany to help rebuild their economies and never put back. Tariffs cause the cost of imports to rise, thereby allowing American goods and businesses to have a chance and not be undercut. The manufacturer overseas will pay if they can't sell their product in the US.

When I was working and leading teams, there were many times where I would want to have the team explore some idea, but rather than dictate an action, I would throw out, "Here's a dumb manager question, would it work if we did ...?" Sometimes it was a dumb idea but got the team to come up with something new and a solution that would work; other times, the team would agree with the idea and refine it. I think that's what a lot of Trump's ideas are -- throwing out ideas to initiate thoughts that can be refined and improved. It's a great way to make progress.

In 1872 Congress repealed a national income tax that helped finance the Civil War. Representative Benton McMillin of Tennessee introduced an income-tax amendment to a tariff bill in 1894. It passed Congress, but the new income-tax law was short-lived. In 1895 the U.S. Supreme Court declared it unconstitutional. Congress finally secured its power to tax income in 1913 after it approved, and the states ratified the Sixteenth Amendment. Any federal income tax prior to the 16th Amendment was unconstitutional.
@tahliasgoddaddy2 сағат бұрын
@Sugarmountaincondo But, it was only for the duration of the war and then ended as promised. Fast forward to WWI and Woodrow Wilson brought back the income tax promising it was only for the duration of the war and would never rise above 7%. By the time he left office, it was at 77% and was still in force and has been ever since. Thankfully, Calvin Coolidge cut the tax from that 77% down to 27% ushering in the roaring 20s time of money and excess. Then when Reagan took office that top rate was at 78%. Reagan took a page out of his favorite president Calvin Coolidge's playbook and cut it to 28 percent and the country experienced what was at that time the longest running period of economic increase in history. Moral; low (or no) taxes brings about a booming economy.

It was a one paycheck household... the value of the dollar was worth more. Between then and now... We have gone from a one paycheck household to a two paycheck household... maybe as much as a three paycheck household and the value of the dollar has decreased... but our government wants more? Food for thought... Man's greatest enemy is... time. At this rate... our worst enemy will end up consuming us all. I don't know if the idea of ERS is legally possible but it is for sure an idea to look into. If that's the case, then this statement is true... "What's good for the goose is good for the gander."

As I'm sitting here suffering a high fever and dealing with aches and pains from the flu, the first time I've experienced it naturally, I have a "what if" of my own. What if the flu is God's way of showing people what it would be like without Him after life ends if they do not have a relationship with Him. Because the Bible talking about the deep ache and chewing on your tongue during the darkness and Fall of Babylon in the book of Revelation in one of the final bowl judgements, is a very familiar feeling while dealing with this.
