Poverty rate is really in the 34 pct area because anyone making less than 47k a year is in poverty if you look at how much it cost to live in ca. The biggest growth in economy is in the section with real estate because cost to buy a house has doubled and so has gpd for selling them. If you take away close to a million illegal immigrants that came into California last year the population of ca went way down from the number he uses.

For example he says close to being 4th largest economy when in reality only reason we became 5th was because the uk is doing bad and Germany is still 900 billion more gdp which would mean Californian would have to raise their gdp by 30 pct. Last statistics that came out says 34 pct of people live in poverty in ca in 2021 and has gotten worse with cost of living continuing to go up. Our tax rate is crazy because of how high minimum wage is if you have a job that pays 25 pct above minimum wage you're in a higher tax bracket that takes 29 pct of your income compared to 16 pct if you make minimum wage so basically better off working a minimum wage job than a skilled job that pays a little more.

For example, he talked about dealing the best hand that you are dealt in terms of giving free money to illegal immigrants… In terms of free college, free medical, etc…. One thing that he left out of the conversation, is that when you offer those incentives to illegal immigrants, the psychology of human brains is such that wayyy more illegal immigrants are going to want to come across *in the first place* .

In all fairness to conservatives, the things that repel them from California are more so the social policies as opposed to economic. I give Gavin credit for clarifying that the middle class in Cali pays less in taxes than many red states. One thing that should have been clarified, though, is that California has one of the lowest rates of middle class residents per capita in the US. And that doesn't factor in the significantly higher cost of living rate.

I still work for my CA employer remote but now pay Indiana taxes 😒 Yes the cost of living is higher in California but in all fairness you get what you pay for. Nobody wants to live in Indiana lol
