When my brother passed away he didn’t have a life insurance policy. I paid $900.00 for the cremation, $500.00 for the memorial services and other miscellaneous expenses like the urn, the flowers, photo of him etc.. Less than $2,000.00 in total.

Girl, me too! Us black folks LOVE to put money into the ground that we don’t have. It’s ridiculous! You can do something nice for way less. My brother’s cremation was less than $1,000, programs were $600, and they were the large size with 6 pages, and the funeral home was only $600 to use for 4 hrs and they even donated some flowers, and had the easel for his photo! It was beautiful! The repass was at park and people donated food.

It’s unfortunate for the kids, the decisions made by daddy Nick. My father have 11 children with different baby mothers, and most of us didn’t meet or were not aware of each other until a few years ago and I’m in my 50’s. I’m glad I was able to meet and get to know each of them. We try to keep in touch via our family chat. It’s also important to know who your siblings are, so you don’t end up in a relationship with one of them.

The men she dates are able to travel with her and be at her beck and call. Her major issue with Nick was he was too busy and spent a lot of time away from home due to work. It was fine until they had children, and that didn't change. This custody decision isn't about bitterness on either end. It just establishes who can make decisions on behalf of the children.

He's been very upfront on not getting married again or being in a conventional relationship well before the other children were involved so the women know what it is. I also think it's spiritual (making babies) for him, hence the turban. I also don't think Mariah's decision to file for primary custody has anything to do with the other children. I think it's strictly about her being able to solely make decisions for them and getting it on paper. I don't think he'll contest it unless her decisions affect him financially (not even that) or affect his ability to see him. They don't talk bad about each other with her saying they could've worked. I think they jumped in too fast. They married only 6 weeks after knowing each other. I don't think either makes moves based on bitterness.

If any of my family members don't have insurance then there won't be a funeral and I've instructed my children that I do not want a funeral. ALL my money is for them to better their lives.

You can't even get a passport for a minor without both parents' signatures. Also, in some states (Georgia for sure) if you don't have full legal custody and something happens to the parent, the children could go to foster care. People really don't understand how much drama could ensue when they don't have the proper legal documentation.

i love AL, but he was closeted himself for a long time. i’m a black gay man in a major city and it’s very hard to find OUT successful black gay men. we can blame the homophobia and the church in our community for that, it’s scary to come out, u think u may lose your family, etc. so some grace is needed and i’m happy when any black gay man finds love

There is a difference between a sibling in name and a sibling in relationship. And just like it's difficult to parent numerous children (especially if they're outside the home) well, it is difficult to maintain close, sincere relationships with numerous siblings - especially "half" siblings that are related through one parent.

That doesn’t even sound fun, traveling from city to city to meet and get to know a billion siblings in broken homes with moms with a few screws loose. Nah, y’all can get to know each other through Skype and on your own accord when you’re teens or adults.

She lives in a different state they was not together for year's. Then I came had a son named him after his father. She is so mad her son loves me but my son and her son has no realaship. I know of a crematory that cremates for only $1,000 here in Cali. I think it’s preposterous to pay that much for a funeral!! My family already knows to cremate me at the $1,000 place, throw a memorial service at Colonial Chapel which only charges $600 for the service AND the provide some flowers, obituaries and that’s how you plan a funeral for less than $1,000.
