Nothing but respect for Jim Joyce. I can imagine the umpires must be just as nervous as the players when a historic moment like this is happening. You see a man's true character when he faces great adversity, not when he succeeds. And ironically, this bad call gave him the opportunity to show the world he's as good as they come. Absolute class.

I'm a Yankee fan I remember seeing the highlight on ESPN and having the same reaction as everyone else like no he's out they should change that call. He was out and the call was incorrect. I remember being mad at Jim Joyce for making the wrong call. Since watching this documentary, I made peace and seeing how he admitted a mistake apologizing to Armando for the incorrect call. Jim Joyce felt bad. Even Jim Joyce who was a good MLB umpire is human and not perfect. Even good umpires make mistakes. My opinion on why to this day on why they have not given Armando his perfect game is because of the times. At that time MLB did not use replay for outs and safes. They only used replay for fair and foul balls for home runs or not. There's a saying you can't change history. Even Jim Joyce said if replay was around for the time he would have gone to replay and made the right call.

I was only 8 years old at the time but I very vividly remember Playing Wiffle Ball outside with my friends most of that evening, I came back inside around when the 7th inning was taking place and my dad had told me the Tigers pitcher was pitching a perfect game so far. Even at 8 I knew how rare and cool something like that was. I remember that whole 9th inning. The Austin Jackson catch, The 2nd out making it just one out away. And then the last play. I didn't even react, All I saw was Joyce make the safe motion. Neither my dad or I had a real reaction at first. Wasn't until about 3 minutes later where we were like "Uhhh what in the world just happened". Not too many games stick out to you when you're watching them on TV but I'll never forget that night
