I have been watching the PBA since the early 70's. First time I have seen a pro throw one in the channel; let alone two in the same game! Many of the young, modern bowlers seem obsessed with RPM's and HUGE hooks! I'm not convinced that the "revving big hooks" shots equate to better bowling. The great Don Carter comes to mind. From an artistic point of view, bowling has lost a measure of its elegance and beauty now that so many are using the two handed method of delivery. Gone are the days of elegance which PBA Hall of Fame bowlers like Johnny Petraglia, Earl Anthony, Don Johnson and Nelson Burton Junior graced us with. Nevertheless, the PBA is still fun and exciting to watch. My two favorites of the current era are Jason Belmonte and the up and coming youngster Eric Jones. I think that's his name.

My favorite moment was the Russo moment when he basically needed to strike to win...it was tense. Russo is only gonna get better, so look for him and Troup to win more titles. Just don't do anything dumb boys to get an injury.... Great playoff round!!!

I'm not certain if what happened in the fourth match wasn't the first time a top professional threw two balls in the channel in the same game. It's rare enough to see it happen once, but I can't remember in all the years I've watched (I've watched off-and-on for 35-40 years) a player of the caliber of any of these top players throw two in the channel in the same game, and it happened on the same lane. And I saw Del Ballard, Jr. literally throw away a tournament in 1991 by throwing a fill ball in the channel when all he needed was about 6 or 7 to clinch. But I've never seen a player do that twice in the same game (and on the same lane, as well).

Yes it was, the previous night, which was the stepladder play-in for the players seeded 12-16 (they considered that to be the first round). But the telecast started at 10:30 PM on the east coast, and it had a lot of fireworks, with close matches, and as mentioned at the top of this telecast, even had a player having a shot a perfect 300 game on the last ball, which unfortunately, didn't pan out (he shot 298).
