Why do people always make it sound like Roy Jones Jr ducked good fighters? He fought Benard Hopkins in his prime, James Toney in his prime, and he was willing to fight a bigger fighter in Tarver. Respect to the greatest!

That definitely wasn’t Hopkins prime but he did school him. Toney got schooled too. And true he was willing to go up to heavyweight and come down to fight Tarver. Very taxing on the body

@infamousliberalgamerlibera234

Hopkins was an unknown fighter when he fought Jones. Hopkins biggest fight prior to the Roy fight was against Joe “the hammer” Lipsey. Hopkins wasn’t in his prime he was still raw and learning. Jones did fight a prime Toney. But Roy avoided ALL of the big name challengers that were at Super Middle: Eubank, Benn, and McClellan. Roy also used every excuse not to fight Hopkins & Toney in rematches until those rematches basically meant nothing. So Roy during his prime years WASTED them on “mandatory challengers” for whatever belt he held. He primarily lived off of his HBO contract while fighting those mandatory bums. That’s why Roy doesn’t have many big time pay per view fight records if any. He coasted all through his prime fighting mandatory bums because his HBO contract paid him a good amount per fight regardless of who he fought. If you were alive and following boxing closely then you know all of these facts.

Fury was going around saying he was coming in at 290. That scared Wilder into putting on too much weight. Then Fury comes in at 277. Wilder's thin legs can't deal with that extra weight. He will run out of stamina and has to go for an early KO.

Correction: heavyweights don’t generally “pick-up weight” after a weigh-in. In fact, some even drop a pound or two due to a bit of nervous energy. Fury came in at the right weight for his large frame. Wilders weight gain is a concern due to his spaghetti legs.
@jimbo7388

Glad at least someone noticed and addressed this, I also saw skip and Shannon assume fury would be gaining water weight after his weigh in the other day, and I know these analysts don't generally cover boxing very thoroughly so I guess it makes sense, suppose it strikes me as exactly the type of misconception an analyst that only covers big fights to have

This is what an ego will do to somebody, ever since Tyson Fury got up from Deontay Wilder's knockout punch in their first fight, Fury has been living rent-free in Wilder's head, Wilder's ego will not allow him to accept the fact that not only is he not strong enough to knock Fury out, he doesn't have a third of the boxing skills that he does, wilder is going to lose this fight, 6 months later, he's going to challenge Fury to another fight and after he loses that one, it's going to be a year before he challenges (and loses) to fury once again, Deontay Wilder just needs to move on with his career and accept the fact that he just simply cannot beat Tyson Fury, I don't want to see a 47-year-old Deontay Wilder still trying to challenge Tyson Fury, Wilder doesn't have to go out like this, he should just move on, for his own health and for the sake of not having to salvage his career later

Well, I'm old school.. While Tyson Fury won more rounds in the 1st fight? You CAN'T win a championship on your back!! So, I was okay with the draw, I think it would have been a disservice to boxing to give Tyson Fury that 1st fight.. The 2nd fight, Fury dominated, no one can dispute that part..

I don't think you understand fighting if you think you can't win a fight because you've been knocked down. There's a round by round scoring system, and Fury won almost every single round in that first fight. Wilder has won 2 or 3 rounds combined from the two fights.
