Here are the stats at the end of week 16 before Allen sat down (11-13 quarters on the year) Allen: 41 TD, 8 Turnovers, 13 wins, 77.2 QBR, 1 other pro bowl player Jackson 43 TD, 9 turnovers, 11 wins, 77.5 QBR, 8 other pro bowl players In his previous 4 seasons, Allen has averaged around 5000 total yards, 44TD, is second in wins, and operated the highest scoring offense while accounting for over 80% of the offensive scores. He also won his division in all of those seasons….yet…no MVP? Last season, Allen led the NFL in total yards, total TD, was 3rd in QBR (even with the ints, still higher than Jackson), and accounted for 86% of his teams scoring. Jackson was 53%. Advanced metrics, EPA, etc, all heavily favored Allen’s play. Both the MVP and All Pro went to Jackson, but WHY!?!? Because his team finished ahead of Allen? So what about this year? Their QBR is all but the same, their production was very close before the last week when Allen sat out. Allen had bigger wins, bigger moments, and with less talent. Baltimore was expected to compete for a title. Buffalo was supposed to regress and miss the playoffs. Allen set historic offensive records all season long with players that were being passed around from team to team. Without a single 1000 yard receiver, he fed the ball to everyone and put up over 30 points in 12/16 games and tied an NFL record 8 consecutive games above 30 points. Every other QB that has done that won MVP. Allen set a huge amount of game, season, historical records during this season. Prior to Week 18, when Allen played just one series against the Patriots, the Bills averaged 3.0 points per drive. Only three NFL offenses since 2000 have been as successful on a per drive basis. Those teams are the 2007 Patriots, 2018 Chiefs and 2020 Packers, led by QBs Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes and Aaron Rodgers, respectively. Each QB went on to win the Most Valuable Player. 5 consecutive MVP worthy seasons, the most impactful player to any team and so many snubs. If Allen loses this year, the award is a joke.
