The guy on the right does not understand that Juan Soto is worth 500 million. He’s a generational talent and will produce for the next decade.

He is a good/great hitter but not the best in baseball. He is average in the field, below average on the bases, and makes too many mistakes. He has no hustle.
@deepvoicedude4749Ай бұрын
He's probably right, Juan Soto doesn't draw fans to the ballpark. The Yankees brand does that. If Aaron Judge and Juan Soto retired after this year, the Yankees would still fill the ballpark with ease.

I'm Dominican and I got to say, the only players that has justified their contracts so far, are Judge and Ohtani, I don't think he is worth 500 million dollars, he has a poor defense and doesn't run well, he is on his way to 600 home runs, no doubt about that but still, 500 millions is too much.

If Yankees feel he's worth it then he's worth it. It's their money to spend. But he's average defensively and has been traded twice for a reason. I don't see him lasting long in NY. Imo they would be wise to use the money for pitching, not one player.

If he wasn’t worthed and the owners weren’t able to play him that amount then they wouldn’t. They play like 160 games a season basically everyday. They deserve it cuz the owners make way more than that. Stop pocket watching

With every team a legalized bookie now, the price of tickets and merchandize cost. Can you do a show on how much each baseball team is making a year
@marcomcdowell8861Ай бұрын
Weird economics. The Dodgers signed Ohtani, paid him all of that loot, yet they're still no better than were the past 4 seasons. Same with the Yankees. He'll get the money, but you have a team like Cleveland, that has a payroll that's 28th, with a/or near identical record as the #2 and 3 Dodgers and Yanks, then that contract is for prestige and nothing else. I'd like $300-$500 mil guaranteed, so I won't knock anyone getting that, but if the team is good without that player, and all he's bringing in is seats and fans that were going to support the team anyways, if I have a stake in the team, I'll use that money elsewhere.

Deferred money. Plus getting rights in Japan getting Japanese people to follow the dodgers. Completely different scenerario honestly

Juan Soto is definitely a special talent but we know he doesn't draw a legion of fans and sponsorships as the guy in blue from LA.
@bensonvongАй бұрын
Yeah, the entire Dodgers pitching staff got hurt. If it wasn’t for Ohtani, they wouldn’t have the same record as the Cleveland, they would be significantly worse. Dodgers likely don’t make the playoffs without Ohtani so they are actually lucky they signed him.

I don’t even understand how the MLB affords these contracts anymore lol the Yankees annual REVENUE not even profit is less than 700 million. So they are gonna be able to spend basically 3/4 of their entire annual revenue on one player????

That's what I was wondering as well.

@@ojogbaneamedu2501 im just using that as an example to show the scale. Its still insane to pay a single player 10% of your annual revenue lol I don’t understand how these teams are sustaining this while baseball is becoming less and less popular too

How did we make it more than 8 minutes into a video about contracts without mentioning that baseball has no salary cap!! The whole point is that ONLY in baseball do players actually command their market value. In football they do not- and even in basketball there is a “max”. SMH 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️

U really don’t understand how business work with a $500 million contract. Ohtani has a $700 million dollar contract. He will receive that money spread out for the life of that contract. The Dodgers make more money every year from not just ticket sales. It bleeds out to more expensive televised spots, merchandising, tourism, etc. the Dodgers are already making more this year than what they are paying him this year.

where do you think the owner get his ROI from? The fan. They will raise ticket prices, concession stand, and merchandise. Prime example is the Dodgers. They raise season ticket prices, concession stand, parking instantly after they signed Ohtani. Luckily for them, he's worth it so far.
