It’s rad that you had a goal and you saw it through. Sketchy or not, you did the work!

This is the way. Get the camera working and upgrade the parts over time. The important thing is it works for you. BTW the DC input is usually connected to a big block battery that sits on the floor and allows crews to keep the camera powered on without rinsing through the supply of v-lock or gold mount batteries.

Replace that duct tape with Gaffer tape. Duct tape will leave behind adhesive.

Gaff tape will too after a while. I'll agree that duct tape doesn't belong on set in any way, but it fits this.

Gaff tape does too
@dudedavid5222 жыл бұрын
@@okolekroes8385 it sure does. Ive heard that heat is a dactor, but I know time is a factor. Just the normal usage time scale doesn't leave residue.

I think making custom modifications to your camera is a right of passage. :P I made a few custom strain relief plates that strap on the sides and back of my camera with SDI ports mounted to them so that cables can connect to it rather than directly to the camera to make it easier to disconnect on the go without wearing out the ports on the camera.

That camera will have soul once you're all done fixing with it plus you're not afraid to modify it in the future unlike say if you bought a brand new Arri camera.

If you find any other Arri bargins send em my way, I'd love an Amira for a few hundred quid haha. Keep these awesome videos coming!

1. Try using dual lock "velcro" system, it's stronger than regular velcro and will eliminate play 2. Try shortening that DC input cable to be the exact length you need. Only two wires in there. I'd personally cut about 6 inches from the lemo side, then resolder the D-tap side. It's very easy to work with D-Tap. Just make sure you keep the right polarity or you might fry your camera.

Missing connectors are 2x RS - outputs battery power and start signal, 12V output and timecode inputs-outputs. I made a cable for mine to the 12V and TC connectors, so i can supply my monitor or wireless transmitter, and send timecode to the sound recorder, makes editing easier. These Lemo and Fischer connectors are awesome btw, but pricey. The power connector costs 50-60 usd alone. I wanted to make a power cable, but then i found an original ARRI XLR to Fischer cable for 50, so stuck with it. Soldered another XLR to a 200W laptop PSU and there is infinite power. :D Haven't you seen any odd colors when using the variabla ND? The Alexa is sensitive to some infrared, so an IRND or FSND is recommended.

Looking good! Envious in many ways. I want to believe that I'm envious of the camera(and I am) but probably more of the experience and adventure you're having with it :-) A camera like this is sort of comparable to me buying a Lamborghini. I could definitely save up and buy one, no problem. But I would be ruined from the costs of actually owning it(service, tax, insurance, gas). ...Though I still want one(The Arri. Not the Lambo, it would be my doom). Will have to be satisfied with watching you for now!

You could shorten the d-tap to dc cable, there should only be 2 leads inside the cable!

So cool. When do we get to see more footage? How much does that whole rig weigh?
@andrewnibbi2 жыл бұрын
So damn much, man. So damn much. It’s not so bad with this small lens, but rigging up a Classic with even a moderately sized cinema lens and everything else can make it obtrusively heavy. As a buddy of mine once told me, “you will miss shots because of how much it weighs”.

Get some black gaff instead of that duct tape haha, nice setup tho. Great camera for what you paid. I did the same rod setup as soon as I got mine though I eventually got the dovetail. Just get a shorter power cable and some sprigs or velcro straps for cable management.
