This was very easy to understand. I don't see why some people downvoted this.

Super helpful! Not actually dancing myself, but using this as a reference for something I'm writing, where a character teaches another how to dance in preparation for a ball. Thanks!

Very clear; both dancers have beautiful postural alignment & that nice smooth gliding step that's the hallmark of the Foxtrot. Advantage for the student: the couple demonstrates the basic pattern from 3 angle/ points of view. Calm, no unnecessary verbalization, very professional. Male & female parts show individually...again: clarity.

Foxtrot = 4/4. Most videos offer basic shacks like this: slow - slow - fast fast. And this is 3/4. That is, the rhythm of the Waltz. It’s very difficult to dance 3/4 when music is 4/4
@scubasteve21892 жыл бұрын
That’s the point. It’s supposed to be slightly off the bars of music. It makes it look more elegant and sweeping since the steps don’t line up to the beats. The foxtrot itself is 3 beats. It’s not 4/4. Again, this is by design. It is designed to be danced to 4/4 songs, though, so the beats don’t line up. If you don’t believe me, go watch literally every foxtrot video and count the beats. As for it being difficult, it’s actually not. You just need to forget about the 4/4 beat of the music, and focus on the steps and your partner. Just get carried away by the steps and forget everything else.

Nice video, it would be easier to see what the man is doing if his pants were tailored correctly and not so baggy.
@nearlynormal69874 жыл бұрын
Very good videos. Keep it up! Excellent explanation. Many videos on KZbin complicate things too much and there's lots of fancy stuff. Question: in the open position, and the "close" at the end of one basic movement, you seem to be in a knees-bent crouchy position. Is that normal?
@Passion4dancing4 жыл бұрын
Normally the knees would be slightly bent through out. That is the correct technique.

Very confused. Some vids have the beat/steps as SLOW-QUICK-QUICK-SLOW- QUICK-QUICK...
@Passion4dancing7 жыл бұрын
Hi Lazlo, Thanks for the question. The answer is: it depends on the figure you are doing.... This is the basic step of the American smooth foxtrot - and uses the S,S,Q,Q timing. There is also the box step figure which uses S, Q, Q timing as well as many others.

We had to do this at my high school for Senior Dance.... I had a pretty white girl with blue eyes as a dance partner and her breath always stanked. Kinda made her less pretty 🤣
