Cut down from my last stream of figuring out how Freedom Planet uses memory.
There is a lot more to this, I managed to get over 3 hours worth of stream just by doing different things with this.

Anyone else think Milla has something todo with Brevon? She can generate slime blocks the same color as Brevons Slime troops and his knife goop, she starts in a sewer with Brevons Aliens, she talks about finding her parents in the sky (tough that could be a heaven thing) and there's the whole transformation in Final D 3.

Also all C++ ported versions have colours removed and while the colours do work on latest beta, it has the entire menu removed. But you can still save the colours on your files in another version. The colours also cause some issues in Thermal Base where all hanging bars have some interesting textures.

I cannot follow the steps provided in your google docs properly. I'm stuck and seems like I don't understand what chacter value I have to change in order to change the value of the exact character I about to use. I tried this at the case of Carol. 1430 addresses found under the value of 1073741824 on the first scan when I had the main menu screen. Which is Carol's ID value. I collected all of them and copied below. I chose Time Attack and selected Carol. Now I got this value 1073741824 of addresses besides a single numbered ones and even high numbered different ones I've never seen before. I'm stuck at this moment: "6. Change and lock character value to a character you cannot play on the level normally" I don't understand which one of them I should change and what I have to do with the "find out what this value accesses" thingy. When I change all the values and lock them, the game freezes right after I click on it running in the background. Something must be wrong and I don't seem to understand what now. Can you help me?

If you could have read the fifth line in the google doc "Char address for noobs: With characters, it's whatever you have selected, if you have selected Lilac you search her ID, then keep swapping characters and searching the corresponding IDs to find out the character address." So you select Lilac, search 0, go back, select Carol, search 1073741824, go back. Repeat this a few times until you have 1 or 2 results (usually takes ~5 searches) At this point it shouldn't matter which one is correct and which one isn't the game should not crash if you would change or lock it. Steps 3-7 example: After this you need to for example, go to Pangu Lagoon as Lilac, then pause the game, right click on the saved address and select "find out what ACCESSES this address", after this leave that window open and running for now, set the character value to Carols, restart the level, and now you should get a result in the access window. The rest should be fairly straight forward, if the instruction is not the same in step8 for you, replace the one that only changes once or twice.

If I repeat the Lilac and Carol switching step, most of the time I end up having around 11 addresses when the last scanned value is Lilac. There is a deadline at Carol where I cannot afford to switch to either Milla or Lilac. Either way 0 addresses will left behind and I have to press the "Undo Scan" button. I always start with Lilac. Tried orders: 1. Lilac, Carol, Lilac, Milla, Lilac, Carol (ended up with 6 addresses, next is a deadline) 2. Lilac, Carol, Milla, Lilac, Carol (ended up with 8 addresses, next is a deadline) 3. Lilac, Milla, Lilac, Carol, Lilac (ended up having 11 addresses and the next is deadline) 4. Lilac, Milla, Lilac, Milla, Carol, Lilac (ended up having 2 addresses at last, that was a fitting order to scan) After this, the Pangu Lagoon stage for Lilac is locked. So I had to select Dragon Valley instead. Paused the game, then the 2 selected addresses changed the value to something like this 30xxxxxxxx & this 1073741824. The second one is non-other than Carol's ID for some funny reason. I changed it's value to "2" and locked it, then opened up "the following opcodes" window to find out what accesses this address and it was empty. I got back to the game restarted the stage and paused. After this, I checked back to the instructions small window and suddenly got around 13 line of stuff there, but non of them was corresponding to the one mentioned in the doc, (I was looking for this one, F2 0F11 40 08 - movsd [eax+08],xmm0, as I couldn't find it and non of the 13 possibilities changes at all in any kind of way I had to improvise) I selected the 3rd one of the 13 possible ones. Replaced it and pressed OK. Then checked back to the game what changed. The game froze. Not even pressing F2 helped me out to keep the addresses, I had to quit. How is it possible to get this one in "the following opcodes" window? -> F2 0F11 40 08 - movsd [eax+08],xmm0

First, youtube deleted my long comment after replying so I will do more lazy reply. Second, you are not doing the character address thing right at all if you can get 0 results when repeating the search. Third, the guide says "START THE STAGE AND PAUSE", if you dont start the stage you get locked icon when on the stage select. When you pause the stage, at this point you should have all this in CE: Address with character value, A window with title "The following opcodes accessed xxxxxxxx" that you opened by right clicking the character address and selecting "Find out what accesses this address". In Freedom Planet you would have ONE of the following examples: Lilac in Pangu Lagoon, Carol/Milla in Trap Hideout, Milla in Aqua Tunnel. After this, lock the address, change the character value to what character you want to play on that stage, restart the stage in Freedom Planet by selecting restart in pause menu. You will notice it won't work, but in the CE window titled "The following opcodes accessed xxxxxxxx" you will find 1-4 values, select the only one in there or the one that has triggered (Count) 1 or 2 times, press Replace on the right side of that window, press OK to replace it with nothing automatically. Now when you restart the stage again, you will be able to play as whatever character you selected. Do note that you have to do this a few times during a stage, because different screens of that stage might have multiple checks (In Pangu Lagoon you have to Replace 2 to 4 different instructions can't remember) IF YOU SELECTED SPADE OR TORQUE IN A NEWER VERSION OF FREEDOM PLANET THE GAME WILL AUTOMATICALLY RESET ITSELF.

Is 1.15.5 is alright? I used that one all this time. I also have: - Version 1.12.0 Demo - Version 1.21.3 (this one has Torque in the character select normally) Should I go for and find 1.20.2?

if you checked the notes closely you would have noticed that it had 2 values for characters, other said 1.20.2, other C++ at the beginning of the doc on versions it explained the version differences. I changed the doc to say WIN value instead of 1.20.2 value now to make it even more clear (in the beginning it explained 1.20.2 and all versions below that). If you use version below 1.20.2, character values are 0 1 2 3 4 5, very simple. If you use any multiplatform version (C++), the values are 0 107xxxxxxx. That's what you have been doing wrong this whole time as you said you were using 1.15.5

I removed the cheat tables from the sheet as they didn't work for a lot of people, the spreadsheet should have basic instructions for Cheat Engine and step by step thing for getting stage and character ID. (column D and E) BUT if you only want to get custom colours i would suggest save editing (which is also on the spreadsheet). You need a hex editor for this, if you have notepad++ which everyone should, you should get the hex editor plugin for it

YTXZ Okay, so now I have a new problem, I can't access any of the other maps through cheat engine because when I walk into the loading zone in relic maze the area I set to the value doesn't load instead, the room loads as normal so do you have an explanation or do I just have to deal with it?

Not sure, make sure you get the correct address for the stage and that you are using the correct values for what version you are running (2 different values between 1.15.5/older/mmf and 1.20/newer)

+YTXZ i am trying to get the Character customizing to work so far i got the engage running and i did the 5, 4 character stage select thing till it was down to one code and changed it to 3, but when i enter the maze the menu doesn't show up? am i missing something? if it is locking i don't know how to do that. could i please have some help?

Zerox466Games Version differences from the sheet linked in description I wrote a while back. WIN: MMF, Windows only, all characters, all versions below 1.20.2, Colour palettes exist and can be changed (load ID 3 for customization) C++: Multiplatform version, Spade locked, Torque can play 1 level (load ID 73 from menu), Colour palettes removed, Customization menu exists. Beta 1.21.1: Multiplatform version, Spade locked, Torque playable, Colour palettes re-added, Customization menu deleted.

You can use any program that can view program memory and edit it, Cheat Engine is one of the easier ones with plenty of features and its all opensource so I recommend that one.

Repeat until you have 1-2 results. +Carl Daily You could just download the cheat table, then open the game, then open the cheat table. Then all the values are already determined, and then you can change all the IDs. If you want to do it yourself, you could try open time attack menu, then on character select search 5, and then stage selection search 4, then repeat until you have 1-2 results. The problem you will most likely will be seeing is that the stage address will be changing itself which means you have to repeat the entire process (which is why i pre-made a Cheat Table).
