Y'know, we've had 4 'stinkers' over the last few years, mazespin, goatifi, mick, and now logie-bear. I wonder what would happen if they imported the p20 drivers from the last 20 years into an F1 game who would be crowned best of the worst.
@djvycious7 ай бұрын
@@jeffstaples347 I honestly think the last cohort of stinkers are leaps and bounds better than the pay drivers of 25 to 30 years ago. Logan, Mick, Goatifi, and to a much, much lesser extent Mazepin had at least some racing prowess. I'm sure they would have been comfortably ahead of the likes of Deletraz, Lavaggi, Inoue, Mazzacane. I do blame the testing rules to a degree. F1 debutants now get 1.5 pre-season testing days. Even 17 years ago a debutant would have driven 20,000km before the inaugural race, and thousands more throughout the season.

@@djvycious Definitely. I don't think people realize how difficult being a rookie actually is, nor do they realize how strong racing talent is not. Across the board the depth of talent in every top level racing series is far higher than it's been at any point in the past.

I went there in 1997 as part of a trip from the UK. The week prior to Elkart Lake was spent at the race in Mid Ohio. Sunday at Elkhart Lake was very wet and the race did not start for several hours when there was a slight break in the weather. I flew back to the UK on the Monday and prepared for the drive to Belgium for the F1 GP. I believe I left on Thursday morning catching the ferry from Dover and then continued the trip. I booked into a hotel that afternoon as I was knackered. There great tracks on three weekends. I needed a break!

Sting ray clearly knows who his biggest fan is mate. Also I have to say that getting a penalty in Indy car seems to be a lot harder to get compared to F1. If you so much as give someone a dirty look in F1 you’re getting a penalty but here they can race like they’re in bumper cars, it’s great !!!!!
@2639theboss7 ай бұрын
They need to tone it back a bit. I don't want full Nascar bumper cars, if I did, I'd watch Nascar. But it's still infinitely better than F1's "The person in front of you can push you off track unless you're ahead at the apex but also penalties for literally anything else" system.

Normally apart from the Indy 500 one-offs, the season is stable, except for Ed Carpenter's team since he likes to run the ovals. The three main factors leading to this season's instability: 1) David Malukas injured himself mountain biking just before the season started, meaning the #6 has needed a few different drivers. But Theo Pourchaire is there for the rest of the season. 2) Dale Coyne likes to find drivers who will pay him for the seat, and he waited too long trying to find someone who would pay for the full season, so now he's basically race-by-race. 3) The Canapino ruckus that Will discussed.
